Su Chen couldn't believe it.

The things that Sun Rui had told her felt unbelievable.

If his eyes had not shown so much sincerity and had he not shockingly cried begging for forgiveness, she would rather believed it was a scam.

To be honest, if one were to tell her that the husband who hated her, despised and rejected her actually loves her, she would be inclined to call that person mad.

And even more unbelievable was...

This Sun Rui had somehow become a superstitious person?

What memories of past life?

Isn't this a cry of madness? Or just another way of telling her that he was deluded??

She felt rather worried about her safety.

It was only until he started sharing things about her that she was sure she had not told anyone about.

Her likes, dislikes, preferences, past childhood experiences, her innermost thoughts and feelings... Even the birthmarks on her body! She was quite sure they were never that intimate for him to know such a thing!!

She felt that this seemed too impossible yet what was impossible seemed now to be reality.

Su Chen was shocked and confused to the point that she was in a daze, falling asleep and waking up, simply not really responding.

And this daze was not only from the shock of  what he had confessed to her.

***

Three days ago.

Two figures were on the bed, one covering the other with his broad body. Long black hair trailed down to the woman below him.

Her wrists were kept secured in his hands as he stared at her, face no longer with tears from his overwhelmed feelings of seeing his... Wife.

The man kept his lips gently on her cheek.

"Su Chen... Ah Chen... Please... Please don't reject me anymore. Don't... Don't leave me..."

Sun Rui kept the woman close to him.

He knew it was her. She was different from how she looked as she grew up but he knew this was his Empress.

How could he not recognise the visage he had missed so much.

As his eyes fondly... Obsessively... Traced every outline and curve of the woman below him... He could not help but feel his heart trembling violently.

Perhaps the reason why he could not recognise her even when he had his dreams, was because he could not link the woman to the Su Chen of his youth.

His Su Chen who was not cured from poison.

He... He could have cured her. If he had known earlier.

He had cured her in their past life and he could do so again.

And now... Another man had done such a thing to his... wife.

His grip over her wrists tightened quickly, bruising the slender woman under her to groan in pain.

Immediately, Sun Rui released his hold.

He gently sat her up, holding her hands and blowing and gently massaging her wrists. His eyes were pained to see the slightly red marks on her jade white skin.

"Ah Chen, Ah Rui is back... I'm... I'm so sorry for not realising earlier."

Sun Rui grabbed Su Chen close to him, his face in the crook of her neck, his body trembling as he gently hugged her, as if she was a porcelain vase at the brink of shattering.

"Forgive me. Forgive me! Ah Rui will never do such a thing again. Ah Chen will be my only Empress. Ah Chen... Chen'er... I love you."

The man held her firmly, not allowing her to escape from his grasp, again.

At the memory again, Su Chen closed her eyes.

Tears were flowing down unbidden.

But... Why?

Why did her heart feel so much yearning that it would break?
