I decided to take the long way home instead. As I drove up past Colbys house I noticed his car wasn't there and his mom was sat on the garden bench in the front. She waved and signaled for me to come over. I felt kinda awkward but I pulled up outside his house and walked up to her.
"Good afternoon Mrs Brock." I said with a smile on my face. She smiled back.
"Good afternoon Flame, and please call me Jane" She patted the empty spot next to her and I sat down. "Do you know why you're here?" I shook my head. "Your Father came round last night..." I know exactly where this is going.
"What did he say?"
"He told me if Colby ever came near you he would kill him..." I noticed a tear in her eye and my face went blank.
"He what?" I was completely in shock. How could he do that?
"I warned Colby to stay away from you but he was adomet that nothing would happen. Just be careful okay... Don't let him get hurt." I nodded my head And went back to my car. As I drove up to my house I went into full panic mode. I ran thew the door open and ran into the living room. My mom was still at work and I couldn't text or call becuase she left her phone at home. I didn't know what to do. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket.
Colby: Are you okay?
Me: What yeah, I'm fine
Colby: You didn't look fine when you ran inside
Me: You were watching me?
Colby: I was driving home
Me: I'm fine... I just don't think its a good idea to hang out anymore. I don't want you to get hurt by my dad
Colby: I'm not gonna leave you! He can try all he wants. I Will NOT leave you.

I threw my phone down on the sofa. Why does he have to make this so hard?

Colby: I'm coming to pick you up in 20 mins. Be ready were going on a hike

I didn't know what to say back. I don't think I could stop whatever is happening now. I ran upstairs and changed into a pair of black jogging bottoms and a white spaghetti strap top. I put on my running shoes, washed off my makeup reveling the whole bruse and waited downstairs for colby to turn up.

I heard a knock at my door. I grabbed my phone, house keys and threw them in a cross body bad and walked outside. Colby wouldn't stop looking at the bruse. It made me feel uncomfortable. It was about half an hours drive and the whole time we were silent. It felt so awkward and I didn't want to get out the car. He pulled up to an open field with mountain trails. The mountains reached the sky. The flower were as pretty as a night sky. It was beautiful. Colby came round and opened my door. I sat there for a second before stepping out. "It's beautiful here." I smiled as he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards a trail.
"If we hurry no we can make it up before sunset." He smiled at me and I nodded. It was so sweet. He handed me a bottle of water out of his backpack and put his hand in his pocket. We walked about halfway up in silence. It still felt extremely awkward. We came to one of the benches and I sat down to take a breather. Colby sat down next to me and he just smiled. I looked down at my phone for maybe ten seconds and when I looked back at Colby he was putting his blue adidas shirt in his bag. I blushed slightly and looked back down at my phone.
"You ready to keep moving? We have thirty minutes till sunset and we arnt to far away." I nodded my head and we carried on walking. We both tried to make smalltalk but it was kinda awkward. I couldn't help but laugh at his awkward questions. He glared at me playfully and we both losened up again. The rest of the walk was pretty good. We're were messing around pushing eachother, just happy to be spending time together. "Okay close your eyes..." He smiled at me and I obed. He put his hands over my eyes and whispered in my ear "Ready Flame?" I nodded. He walked me forward towards the edge of the cliff. As we got closer to the edge I could feel my heart racing. I was nervous, I didn't want to fall. We stopped right at the lip of the cliff.
"Colby?" I aksed cowardly. I could feel his breath on my neck and my spine tingled. He removed his hands from my eyes but I kept them shut. He placed his hands on my waist.
"Ready? Open" when I opened my eyes I looked out into the distance and saw the beautiful sunset. I looked around and at the bottom of the was writing. 'Will You Go Out With Me?' I smiled. This was so cute. Colby turned my around so I was facing him. I shook my head. I had only just met him and I felt to rushed. His face went pale and he let go of me.
"Colby... I'm sorry. We only just met... Kinda" I mumbled the last word under my breath but he caught on. I put my head down but he lifted up my chin and looked at me as if he was trying to figure out a puzzle. I sighed and pulled out the picture from my bag. When I handed it to him he went even pailer.
"Oh...My...God" he looked completely out of it.
"Colby?"
"I knew it! I knew you were the little girl I was friends with!" I was completely taken back. He knew?
"How..?" He smiled and explained that his mother had the same picture but he kept it in his room with all the other pictures of his friends.
"I wish I had peiced it togther sooner." He smiled at me softly.
"I'm... Sorry Colby. If we had know eachother maybe a little longer I would have said yes... I jus-" He cut me off, moved my ginger hair out of my face and pulled me into a hug.
"I will wait for you. Till the end." I cried into his chest. I wanted this but I couldn't let him get hurt. I just couldn't. Not for me...
