The same function was done for Rohan except he got a shirt and pant. His aunts applied on his cheeks the sandal paste. Some of the aunties for fun even put flowers on his head and adorned him with earrings and chains made of muruku and finger chips.

Vrithi, Zeeta, Swetha, Rithu, and Sandra came in giggling and telling that athan looked so funny.

I changed to my gold sari which I wore for the private engagement while Rohan wore his cream kurta and dhoti style pant.

My aunt came and called me outside, I went out with my friends, Rohan was on the stage and some of our relatives were on the stage. They told me to stand near Rohan, I looked up at him and he flashed a wide smile, he looked very hyper in spite of all these functions.

I went near him, he looked at me “what’s happening“ I signaled to him to which he closed his eyes and nodded in a 'wait and watch' way. I looked around, my grandpa (thata) came over to us blest us and gave me a ring I put it on his finger, it’s a traditionally designed ring which all the sons in law received. I took it and put it on his right hand ring finger, his thata gave him a ring to put it on my finger, I held out my palm and he gently held it and slipped the gold ring which had a design of two hearts interlocked.

We were then asked to give our first presents to each other. I love cuff-links and always wanted to gift my fiancé cuff-links, usually the gifts exchanged were watches but I wanted to give something different and so settled on cuff-links. It was a silver colored square cuff-link with gold colored random designs on its face. The moment I saw this, I had made up my mind on this. I gave it to him and he opened it and was surprised by the choice of gift.

He gave me a set of bangles (more of a bracelet type...it had different bangles...Pearl, plain, and a mixture of them with cute charms hanging on it). I’ve never had something like this, how thoughtful of Rohan.

After all these functions were over I went in to get changed for the final function of the day ’the head washing ceremony’. I’m not sure why this ceremony was started, but I guess to start the whole marriage life with purity. I removed all my jewelry and changed into a simple sari and went out.

My aunties were surrounding a small stool and a big drum of water I sat on the stool and they started with the function, suddenly there was a commotion “stop, no, go back, wait” and all other things, Rohan’s sisters came and put colored water on me and my sisters were ‘protecting’ me. I started to giggle thinking of my past experiences and that Rohan will also have to face this. After I was done, I was wrapped in a towel, I stood in the entrance of the hall and many aunties came around with a big tray of petals…moved it in front of me in a circular motion and put the petals on my head and blessed me.

I went inside and changed quickly, by that time Rohan’s ceremony was over and he had also changed into a formal white shirt and a jean pant, I wore a simple anarkali suit and we all went to have our dinner, it was around 11pm.

I went to the room; I saw it had balloons all over with the other decorations. Ma, pa and all my aunties had left and I saw the room was filled with my besties, Vrithi, Zeeta, Cathy akka and Rithu were also there. “What’s happening here and Rithu, you didn’t go with athai and mama?” I asked confused

“uh…mm.. no how could I miss your bachelorette ??” she said and hugged me.

“Ooohhh… bachelorette??thank you guys so much. I didn't expect it at all” I said and smiled wide.

We sat around sipping on cold drink and dancing about till around 12:30, “guys I’m really tired, I want to rest otherwise I would be late for my wedding” I said and earned giggles, we bid good bye and before I knew it I slipped into deep sleep.

Hey wattpadies,

In our weddings, almost every time we enter the marriage hall we are showered with petals and blessing…it’s a nice feel to get so many good wishes for your wedded life.
