The next day, that is Easter, was a lot of fun, we got up later than usual, got ready and came to the hall, everyone was doing some work or the other, I went into the kitchen with the girls and started to help around with the cooking, outside the others were playing with the kids and doing something, it was lunch time and finally after the chopping and frying our lunch was ready, we all ate our stomach full, and had desert.
After that Jun and I were to go to my parents home, we went there, and chatted with them, my cousin, and playing with her child.
It was almost two hours and I felt drowsy, I went to my room to have a quick nap, I didn’t close the door so that anyone could come to my room, I lay on the bed and drifted to sleep.
“Sara, Sara wake up, we are going for a film…” I heard Jun trying to wake me up, I was too deep to realize what was happening.
I moved a little “sit here first” I mumbled in my sleep, but felt the bed dip, I sloppily got up and flung my hand over Jun’s shoulder and kept my head on the nape of his neck, “which movie?” I asked “happy new year” he replied as he tucked my hair behind my ears, “oh!!! Great, wow” I said and pecked him on his cheek, and he chuckled. I was wide awake now, and gave him a questioning look.
“control, okay, anyone can come” he said pointing to the open door, I blushed of embarrassment and went to freshen up, we drank tea and went to the theatre to join with our cousins.
Throughout the movie, I kept on laughing and didn’t almost utter anything to Jun. As we walked out, he looked all serious, I tugged his hand to make him stop “what’s the matter with you? Why so grumpy?” I asked.
“nothing, just that, you didn’t talk to me while the movie was on, so I felt, kind of left out and missed you.” He replied with guilt in his voice,
“awww… that, I’m sorry, I am generally like that if the movie keeps me engrossed” I replied and took his hand so that our fingers could be intertwined, he didn’t get too happy, but the bike ride back home did the trick and he was back to normal, the way the breeze brushed against our skin, the way I kept bumping into him or his head for every speed breaker, or dent in the road and my vain attempts to apologize, only to repeat, made us to laugh.
We both were starting work tomorrow; we slept a little early so that we looked fresh.
As soon as we got up and greeted each other, we kept running around the room to get our things set for work, I went down, made dosa and the chutney athai had made and bid ‘byes’ to all and left.
In the evening, I came home, made tea and dinner, Jun came just in time, after freshening up, we caught up on the current affairs, and I was cuddled to sleep.
For the past whole week and a few days, our life has been a routine, although we had a few brushes of skin here and there, and eye locks, we became used to these touches.
One day when I came back athai wanted to talk to me, “so how is your relationship with Jun? Are you’ll comfortable with each other?” she asked, I knew she was beating the bush
“uhh... yes athai, we both are really happy, thank you for everything, and we both love each other a lot” I said and waited unsure of what to say.
“So…have you’ll tried for a baby??” she asked and I looked away, uneasy and not sure as to how she will take it “umm…athai…actually, we haven’t tried yet.” I said but was interrupted
“why ma? You’ll are married, we are also getting old, and we want to play with our grandchildren. You understand right?” she said
“but…athai, we thought that we should settle properly first.” I said
“no…no... you’ll are settled, you’ll can easily manage with a baby, or are you….you…know…sick..?” she asked me, I was shocked at how she could ask me like this, I’m sure many of the other aunties who meet me and ask about the same also assume the same,
“athai, please, I’m not sick, we will have a baby when it’s the right time for us, please leave it to us” I said and walked out, straight to our room, as tears threatened to make its way.
I went straight inside and bumped against Jun, while he held my shoulders, so I could balance, I gave him a blank expression while he grinned cheekily and with expectation in his eyes.
He saw my eyes and our eyes locked, “what happened?” he asked concerned, that was enough for me to cry holding onto him tightly ,while he rubbed my back “shh…its okay…” he tried to comfort me.
