We got back to the prison. We got out of the car and walked up to the building I speed walked to a cell and stayed there. "Hey how was the run?" Daryl asked me "I don't want to talk about it." I replied "what's wrong?" "Nothing just...can you please leave me alone please?" I asked "okay" he said then he left.

(Carl's pov)

When we got back (y/n) stormed off into a cell I saw Daryl go in there and came back out a little confused "hey Carl do you know what's wrong with (y/n)? She won't talk to me." Daryl asked "uh, I don't know." I said trying not to sound like I was lying "you better tell me or I'll ask Rick." He threatened "okay, okay, when we went to go get the guns I tried to get a crib, and a picture for Judith she went on her own to get the crib while I went to get the picture and then..." "and then what?!" "Remember what governor did to Maggie?" "What?!! You mean that happened to my little girl?! Why did you leave her all alone?! What where you thinking?!" "I took care of it alright! The guys dead now! She's safe! Isn't that all that matters?! If I weren't there you may have never seen her again!" I yelled "Carl!" Dad called me over. I walked towards him "why didn't you tell me?" "Because I didn't want her to feel more pain than she already is. I want her to get through it and live." I said I walked away from everyone and went into (y/n)'s cell. She was a sleep. I went over to her and brushed some hair out off her face 'I promise I will never do anything to hurt you in anyway.' "I promise I will protect you." I whispered and kissed her forehead. I went over to the wall across from her bed and sat there.

(Your pov)

I woke up it was dark and I didn't hear any voices so I assumed it was the middle of the night "hey" I heard a voice I looked in the direction it came from and saw a figure it came closer and my eyes adjusted to the lack of light and I saw Carl "you should go back to sleep it's not good to be up this late." He said "why are you here?" I asked "do you want me to leave?" He asked "actually, I know this I is stupid but, I'm a little afraid of the dark(this is true for me don't you dare judge!)." "What? But what about the other few nights?" Daryl was always close to me so I wasn't that scared, now with what happened I don't even feel safe sleeping alone." "I get it but there's nothing to be afraid of, not with me around anyway." "could you stay with me till I fall asleep?" "Sure." He got on the bed and curled up next to me he wrapped his arms around me and held me to his chest. "Hey (y/n)?" "Yeah?" "I-I-it's nothing never mind." "Uh, okay."

(Carl's pov)

When (y/n) asked that question I felt my heart explode with joy and it was brighter than 4th of July fireworks, I wanted to tell her how I felt but I hesitated. When I woke up (y/n) was still asleep so I gently removed my arms from her waist and sat up I saw Daryl staring at me "what do you think your doing?" He asked I looked at him then at the sleeping beauty next to me. "Daryl it's not what it looks like I swear." "Come with me." I got up making sure not to wakeup (y/n) and followed him "Daryl I know your probably pissed right now but I promise it wasn't like that. She asked me to." "I get it. I'm not mad. I wanted to say that...look I know that you and (y/n) are very close and I hope I don't regret this discussion but I thought about what you said about if you weren't there then I would never see her again and I thought that she'll need a protector in this world thats not me and Merle, someone her age(or half a year younger ;-) )." "Me?" "I'll allow it but if I find that you treat her bad once you better run." "I promise I won't do anything to harm her I swear on my life."

I stayed in my cell while everyone got ready Daryl, Hershel, and Rick went to go negotiate with the governor(we all know what happens there). Carl came in "hey we need you to help." "Why?" "Because we need all the help we can get." "Please just go okay? I want to be alone."(sorry I'm the type of person who changes their mood pretty fast) "okay." He left a few minutes later Maggie came in "hey there hon'." "Hi" "Carl told me what happened. You know it happened to me to I was just how you are right now I was sittin' around thinkin' while there was work to be done. But I got over it because like my daddy says 'we've all got jobs to do'." "How long ago?" "It was actually a few days ago." "Okay" I walked out with her I heard yelling " 'Cause it's my brother out there, that's why.What's the matter with y'all?" and saw Merle wrestling Glen. Maggie ran up and grabbed Merle by the neck with Michonne behind her. Beth shot a gun in the air "Let me go! Let me go!" He demanded they did "Merle you know as much as I do he'll be fine not even the governor can kill him." He looked at me "fine" he said and walked away "who's on watch?" I asked "no one right now." Maggie answered "Glen can you toss me that ak?" I asked he did and I went on watch.
Time skip-

I was still on watch when I felt a hand on my shoulder, I jumped, and saw it was Glen "hey you've been out here for awhile why don't you take a brake." He said "are you sure?" I asked "yeah they need more help anyway" "okay see ya" I left him alone. I saw Carl and helped him load magazines. "Hey the other night when you told me that you where afraid of the dark?" "Yeah" "well didn't you say you were on your own for a few months?" "Yeah the Merle found me and took me to Woodbury. Why?" "Well if you where alone then how where you not scared?" "Well for the first month and a half I was alone then one day I was in the woods and I saw a deer I tried to shoot it but as I was about to something ran in to me and knocked me down, it turned out to be a girl my age." "What was her name?" "Sophia" he looked at me with a confused look on his face "Carl? What's wrong?" "Carol!" He called and she came in "(y/n) tell her who you know." He said I was so confused "uh, S-Sophia?" I said Carol looked at me "what did she look like?" Carol asked "she had dirty brown hair almost light brown, she had a blue shirt with a rainbow on it, and she always carried a doll with her." I answered "oh my god." "What? I'm confused." "Sophia was Carol's daughter." Carl said "do you know how she died?" Carol asked I nodded "it was me. I was the reason she died. We were running from some walkers and when we lost them we hid behind a tree and I look around the next thing I know I hear her scream and I got to her to late. I'm sorry" I teared up "she was a sweet girl and I miss her everyday." I said "Carol was crying and Carl wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "Come on they should be back soon" I said and left with them behind me. When the others got back we had a group meeting "So, I met this Governor.Sat with him for quite a while." Rick said "Just the two of you?" Merle asked "Yeah." "Should have gone when we had the chance, bro." "He wants the prison.He wants us gone.Dead.He wants us dead for what we did to Woodbury.We're going to war."
