The car ride was the longest and most boring thing, I have ever accomplished. That is why people do not drive across the country alone. Technically right now, I am a rogue so I am connected to their wave of mind links. They are loud and annoying, but maybe this could be an advantage. I could listen in and help my pack, but that would put me in more danger. I might be able to find someone in their pack who is willing to do that. They wouldn't see it coming, which is an A-plus to me if you think about it no one is willing to be a rouge, and as long as they are careful they can just listen in and we can fill in most of the blanks. With that thought in mind, I pull into a nice bed and breakfast.
It is a really nice house with a classic maroon-colored fence, small children kicking around a soccer ball. The big sign has a rose and says 'roses bed and breakfast' the sign does look kind of old, but this place does have a really homey feel to it. The yard has numerous rose bushes and flowers in the two boxed gardens in the front. Just a bunch of normal people dealing and probably thinking about their first world problems. Not being in danger problems in the world to worry about in any way shape or form.
Noticing the sign that says parking, I pull in to a faded yellow spot. The roads are not cemented, they are dirt. Which means my car needs to get the dust cleaned off of it and an oil change, soon.
I stopped at a truck stop a few hours ago and showered, changed my clothes, a pencil skirt, and a summer top, that makes my bump appear smaller.
I am still not that big yet, but I would rather be this big, then have a watermelon child.
My car door opens and I jump in shock until I notice it is a little boy no bigger than Miguel.
"You are pretty." He says, his chubby cheeks are now a red color.
"Thank you, you are a handsome man as well," he laughs and kicks the dirt.
"I am a boy, my daddy is the man." I make an o shape with my mouth and say,
"You could have fooled me." His smile beams.
"Well, grandma sent me out here to get you." Why would someone send a little boy out here to greet a stranger?
"My name is Nicholas, but you can call me Nick." I smile as I get out of the car, he slams the car door shut and I cringe a little at how hard, he does so
"Okay, Nick my name is Dianna could you show me the way to the front desk so I can rent a room?" He grabs my hand and pulls me towards the house.
"Daddy is going to love you." I assume his parents are split, and he is trying his best to play matchmaker.
I remember trying this with my mom before she found her second chance mate and: before I found out about a mate bond. My mom didn't think it was funny, but aunt Lisa did until she left with her mate to join another pack. I would offer free stuff and share my mom's stuff with them because certain men did look and sound kind of like my dad.
We speed walk into the door his legs at a running pace or at least getting close to it.
"Please slow down a bit?" I ask and he does.
At the front desk sits an older lady, she looks at most 50. She smiles and Nick runs up the stairs in a hurry.
"Dad there is a really pretty lady downstairs come to see." Both his grandmother and I laugh a little.
"We have several rooms available would you like one with a single bed or a full, claw foot bathtub, or a shower, one with a small kitchenette?"
"I would like one with a king-size bed, shower, and a kitchenette." The older woman smiles, I notice her name tag says, Rose.
"How many nights are you planning on staying?" She asks opening up an old resident book.
"Just one, I should be out by morning." She smiles writing it in her book.
"The master sweet is one hundred and fifty dollars a night. Room service is extra." I pull out my wallet and hand her the cash.
"Is anyone else staying with you. Who's name do you want the room under?" I frown and say, "Dianna Markus and no, just me."
"Okay, have you had lunch yet?" She asks handing me the key.
"No, not yet." She smiles again and steps off the stool she was just standing on. She is just a short little burst of energy.
She then leads me to the grand kitchen.
"Today's special is Chicken cordon blue, chef salad and for a dessert homemade chocolate cake and or rice pudding." My stomach growls at the choices, my mind wants the cake so bad. I can feel the baby moving a little and I smile to myself.
She hands me a menu, "what would you like to drink?" She asks.
"Ice tea with lemon, please." She runs and gets it. I take a sip and this is the best-iced tea, I have ever tasted.
"We brew it here, it is a family recipe." Rose brags to me.
"Well, it is good." She smiles a sweet smile and says a quick,
"Thank you."
"I already know what I want to order, everything you suggest, with a big slice of cake." She laughs to herself.
"Okay, Dianna. One order of all the specials." I smile and my stomach growls again.
She brings everything out one by one. Everything looking so delicious and amazing.
"Thank you so much." She smiles and sets down the cup of soup and a salad. I eat it and more things come piling up. I eat through 4 plates and then feel almost full. My stomach is now a bottomless pit.
I finish the last bit of cake and sigh.
"Thank you so much!" She picks up my plates in shock.
"The total is $67.53," I hand her the cash, she gives me back my change.
"That was so good, I think I am going to go take a nap." She smiles again as I go up the stairs to my room.
My bag is already on my bed, so I grab my stuff for a shower. Big fluffy robes are in the closet, so I grab one.
I run to the shower gleefully. My body aches in places I didn't know could ache.
