My best friend comes running out of the house before we even get to the front step. I set down my bag ready for one of her amazing hugs.
"Oh. My. God. I have missed you too much! You got the car and a baby, girl you are officially living a dream." I laugh at how fast she is speaking.

"Look, Ari, running for my life is not considered a dream, in my book. To me, it is a nightmare. It has a few good things, I would come here by choice to spend time with you, but I wouldn't normally stay in a place without my family and mate." Way to kill the welcoming parade, Dianna. I scold myself for making my friend pity me.

How do I fix this?

What can I say?

"But at least I have a best friend to take care of me and be the auntie of my baby. If you are willing to accept, I would love for you to be the godmother and for your mate Daniel to be the godfather. If anything bad happens to me, you will be there for my son and or our daughter." Tears fill their eyes as they look at me, Ari pulls me into a huge hug.

"You would give us the honor of mothering and fathering your baby if something happens, which it won't so at least. I get to be an Auntie to a little bundle of joy." I start to tear up at her beautiful words.

She embraces me again and says, "Let's get you inside and feed you and that baby." I laugh a little at this, she is usually an emotional mess and I am normally holding her and comforting her.

Oh, man, have the roles switched? This makes me internally smile a little more.

"I wish, I could have stayed with him, but the future of my pack is inside of me. We couldn't put the baby at risk." I explain and she nods.

"He must love you to let you go. Daniel is really good friends with a few Alpha's they are willing to fight with your pack. They want to help, rouges should not be able to get away with mass murder." I nod as we enter the house. Daniel decides to speak.

"We have this house heavily guarded. My Luna will be staying here with you, by choice. I am glad you will be staying, sometimes I think she loves you more than me." He pouts and then sticks his tongue out at her. She laughs and says, "You know the saying sisters before misters." She teases making him laugh.

"Anna, do you know that old myth? When a Luna is pregnant her blessing can bring more children." I don't remember that myth. I wish I remembered.

"Well, my mom had trouble with me and Anthony's mom blessed her. Then, poof, she was pregnant and she then had me." I don't think that is how it works.

"I remember your mom and dad saying that. I just don't want to get your hopes up just for them to get taken down." I say this speaking from experience. I also am saying this from my heart because I don't want her hurt.

"I know, but it is worth a try." I nod again. She is worth it all. They need a baby, he needs one. This pack will need a future Alpha.

"You already have my blessing, but we will do the ceremony later. Right now, I need to put my feet up for a while and sit." She rushes me into the large house and then straight into the living room.

It's a big room with a black carpet that I decide to take my shoes off and run my manicured toes through. They were done with boredom, I started taking more care of myself when Anthony stopped interacting with me.

The couch is a ruby-red leather. I just want to though myself on it and take a nap, but instead, I sit and put my feet up. Ari sits on the corner edge of the L-shaped couch.

"Would you like me to rub your feet?" I nod, my feet are killing me. But then again I don't want to take advantage of them.

"That would be nice, but you have already given me a safe place to stay. Having you rub my feet would just make me feel guilty." Ari laughs up a storm.

"Trust me, I have stacks of paperwork for us to get through. We split the duty so he isn't always in the office. Also, now that you are here we will have more alone time, you know to plan our future and make it. So, trust me this foot rub would be because I am getting rid of my guilt for having you in the office working." I laugh and nod to her rubbing my feet.

"I will have Daniel bring your stuff up to
your room, I will run your bath so you can soak your feet." She gets up and turns the air on. The room was getting kind of stuff so I am glad she turned it on.

I notice in the entryway that he is standing there not just he, Rick. The Alpha's single hot younger brother, of course, I will have to share a house with someone until I can afford my own. But wars take time, the last war tore apart all the packs. I have a feeling this one will bring them together.

He looks at me and smiles.

"How are you feeling princess?" He asks referring to how I am sprawled out on his couch.

"Just great. Does this make you my knight in a shiny leather jacket?" He laughs a little at that but then he looks at my bump.

"What are you having?" I look at his boots and then at his jeans that are dark blue, then up at his white T-shirt and a leather jacket. My eyes find his dark eyes when I say,

"I don't know. I want it to be a surprise, but my mate kept saying it is a girl I- I mean ex-mate." I corrected myself.

"Oh okay." He runs his hands through his hair. "You know I wasn't so happy about you staying here, but after spending five minutes in your presence you have already won me over. If you ever need me I will be right down the hall from your room. Food, someone to talk to, someone to drive that sweet ride around for you. I am not very good at the whole shoulder-to-cry-on thing, but you got Ariana for that. I ain't that good in the kitchen, but I can cook one mean can of Chile and gourmet boxed Mac n' Cheese." I laugh at his humor.

"Thank you so much, but first I would like to see where I will be sleeping." He leans over and gives me his hand to help me get off the couch that decided to swallow me.

"Your tower awaits." He says with his dimples showing a bit.

"Yeah, yeah just try and keep up with me." I attempt to run up the stairs and fail. I end up getting swooped up by Rick. His hand is touching me and I can feel sparks.

"Mine." He growls, holding me closer.

Wait I have two? My second chance mate is here. Hell, no this can't be happening. He is supposed to be my second chance even though I hardly got a first.

"We'll discuss it later," I say making him smile.

"All right princess." He says as he carries me up the stairs and into my room. Where Ari is standing smiling.
