We walk inside and begin to pig out. Ari shares her news with everyone. The pack seems to be super thankful to me.
"I can now have a baby! Oh my, I can't wait to get started!" She sequels as I roll my eyes.
"TMI, I do not want to hear about this!" Rick says, covering his ears. I cower down in the corner stuffing my face with chicken fried rice and veggies. I decided to chime in.
"You haven't given him the sex talk yet?" I joke causing everyone at the table to laugh. He looks over at me and winks.
"I'd be happy to take lessons." Ari looks at me smiling. Clearly she is enjoying the fact that we are getting along.
"At least you won't have to worry about knocking her up." Ari laughs and my face cringes at her words.
"If you don't shut up about this I am just going to have to make sure you don't get knocked up as well." At least, I wouldn't have to choose someone to die.
"Haha, very funny, but you guys should give each other a chance. You are second chance mates after all." I roll my eyes at her and start picking at the orange chicken.
"Give the girl a break, she just got here under bad circumstances. You shouldn't pressure her. She needs time, and that number one priority is that baby, not me." Rick's voice roars across the table.
I blush at his words, he is defending me. He didn't have too. How sweet of him to do so.
"Oh, Anna did you want to tell them or should I?" She asks, but I don't understand what she is referring to.
"About what?" She laughs, throwing her head back.
"What the moon goddess told you about the baby?" My mouth falls open, I can't believe I forgot.
"I know this isn't the most prestige way or extravagant way, but even though I didn't want to know, the mood goddess told me. I am going to have a little girl." Rick gets handed a one hundred dollar bill from his brother.
"What was that for?", Ari laughs again.
"Well, while we were gone they placed a bet on the gender of the baby. Rick guess girl, and Daniel thought you would have a boy due to your family history. With your mom having almost all boys." I laugh a little at this stupid bet.
"Where is my 10% of this deal?" They both laugh, thinking I am joking.
"My baby, my money. I can't stand gambling." I say standing up ready to collect my coin.
"You better listen to her, she one time stopped the whole football team from gambling. They were betting how many girls they could score with. When Anna caught on to their games. Those boys went through hell until they stopped." The guys look up at me fear very prominent in their eyes.
"What did you do to them?" I laugh and begin tapping on my chin.
"Put green hair dye into their shampoo dispensers. Switched their lotions to a hair removal cream. And to top it all off when they used their tanning spray it turned them orange." I giggle as Ari begins to cry of laughter.
"They looked like they belonged in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Or hairless apes. That was the day of their yearbook photos." Ari says while she bangs her fists on the table, in her fit of laughter. Both the guy pulls out their wallets ready to pay.
"How much is this going to cost us? Daniel asks I wink at Ari.
"You are both paying for a Spa day for us." The guys both smile, it's a real smug smile.
"Okay." They both say taking a swig from their beers.
"Good, now no more betting or your asses are grass. And Ari, we are getting a spa day like a Kardashian." Ari gives me a high five.
I start picking up all the empty boxes of food. Rick stands up to help me.
"I can handle this, go sit down and relax. Drink your beer." Since I am pregnant and Ari is underage we are drinking milk instead. I have watched her sip on hers. She doesn't want to relive the moments of it coming out of her nose when she laughs.
I grab the guys two more beers and begin making cookies. They sound good and all the ingredients are here. I use powder sugar instead of regular to make the cookies nice and soft. A pro tip, I have learned over the years.
Just as the first batch is done, I notice three people sitting at the island counter on the little marble stools.
The men both are practically drooling, while Ari is rocking her classic puppy dog eyes. I laugh, as I set a plate with three in front of them.
"Oh, yeah Ricky if you keep her around you get food like this." She says swiping two cookies off the plate. Daniel pouts and she says.
"Who's going to be carrying the baby for nine months?",he smiles and steals a bite.
"Who is going to take care of you when you get huge?" I swot him in in the back of his head and he laughs.
"You are still tiny." Rick's eyes roam my body, he notices that I saw him do it and blushes. He takes a bite of the warm cookie.
"These are the best cookies, I have ever had!" Daniel laughs.
"Don't tell mom that." Rick then, laughs with Daniel.
"On second thought Anna you could live with us. The office is closed and we have a bunch of spare rooms." I like this nice gesture, but nope not going to happen.
"You two will be baby-making and Ari I know you. You hate cooking and cleaning. I am here to help you do work for the pack. I am not coming over to your place to feed and to cheer on the future of this pack. Also, you will be in heat in two weeks. So Daniel will not want to handle two girls PMSing. That would be hell! I think, I can manage here. A two-minute drive and or 10-minute walk isn't going to kill me. We could also have dinner over here some nights." I suggest as they nod.
"Can family dinner be every day that ends with y?" She asks laughing, as I shake my head no.
"I will see you enough at work." She laughs, and then yawns grabbing a few more cookies on her way out.
"Goodnight!" I wave them goodbye, as I continue to bake.
"Why are you making so many?" I forgot my family isn't here, so I frown at this thought.
"I usually would make this much and they would be gone in a day at my home." He smiles at me.
"Well I can take some into my shop tomorrow, the costumes will love them." He gets up an leaves the room not even saying goodnight.
