TED'S POV:
It was the day after we told Marshall about Barney & I
Barney & I are walking into maclaren's pub and we sat down at our booth with our friends, randomly Marshall started giggling at us and smiling
"What's up with you?" Lily asked him
"Lil, I wish I could tell you, you would never believe me" Marshall said with a laugh
Lily looks at Barney & I like she wanted me and him to tell him whatever Marshall was talking about
"its nothing, right Marshall?" I said hinting how he had swore not to tell anyone
Marshall nodded but smiling big
MARSHALL'S POV:
I knocked my napkins on the ground and pretended I was going down to get them but I looked under the table and Barney & Ted are holding hands, I got back up and giggled
"Why are you laughing again?" Lily asked
I just shook my head still giggling
"Just a joke I heard at work" I giggled at the lie
Lily and I had a few drinks and laughed with our friends and then Lily asked if I was ready to go and I said yes
We got back to our apartment and Lily asked me
"Why were you so giggly at maclaren's pub?"
I started smiling just thinking about Ted & Barney being in love
"I can't tell you, But baby I wish I could, it's really good like so good" I said
"Why can't you tell me?" Lily asked
"Because Lily I promised on your life, on Marvin and our future children's life, and our future grandchildren's life"
"Oh, it's that big of a secret" Lily said
"Yeah Lilypad" I said laying my head on her shoulder
"You would not believe me if I told you, you would think I was making up some unbelievable lie" I said
"Wow now I really want to know"
"You're smart, it probably wouldn't take a genius to figure it out" I said
"I thought you said it was really shocking?"
"It is but under the circumstances lately, someone could assume" I said
BARNEY'S POV:
I called Ted
"Just a random question, when are we gonna tell the rest of the gang" I asked
"Uhhh.." Ted said
Ted cleared his voice
"Um I'm not sure" he said nervously
I nodded like he could see me then I remembered I was on the phone
"Yeah, well that's fine" I said trying to be understanding
"I love you though" he said I could almost hear the smile forming on his face
"I love you too, I'll be over soon, bye"
I hung up
Somehow apparently lily came in my apartment (is she a ninja? How did she do this without me noticing?)
"Oooh Barney has a girlfriend oooh" she teased
"How the hell did you get in here?" I asked her
"I have my ways" she answered
"anyway who were you talking to? Do you have a girlfriend?" She said excitedly
"Lily it's none of your business" I said
Then I thought of the most easy way to cover that up
"It was just some girl that I'm trying to sleep with" I lied
Lily looked like she didn't buy it, but she had to, it was me, that was the most predictable thing i would do.
Lily was silent for a few minutes
"I don't believe you" she said
"I think you have a girlfriend" lily squealed
"I swear to god I don't have a girlfriend" I said holding up both my hands truthfully
"I still think you're lying" she said
LILY'S POV:
I took a taxi back home to Marshall
"I think I know the secret you were talking about" I said
"Yeah I doubt it" he said
I scowled
"Is it that Barney has a girlfriend?" I asked
"Nope" he answered giggling
"What's more shocking than that?" I asked "Oh LilyPad, you ain't seen nothing yet" Marshall sang the last part
I couldn't help but laughing at that
"I can prove that Barney has a girlfriend" I said
"I went to his apartment and he was on the phone and he was all like I love you, and I'll be over soon" I said
"So we have to get a taxi to follow his taxi, so we see who's house" I said
"Baby I'm sure it's nothing, we shouldn't be stalking him" Marshall said
"I thought you were pissed at him? What changed in day?" I asked curiously
Marshall rubbed his head like he was looking for a lie
"Teds my best friend, not Barney's, and I finally understand that" he said
"Marshmallow you know I can smell bullshit from a mile away" I said
"It's nothing ok, don't waste your precious time on this" he said kissing me
I couldn't help but smile so big, Marvin was asleep in his arms, I smiled even bigger thinking about my beautiful family
I laid my head on Marshall's shoulder and tried not to fall asleep
AUTHORS NOTE: sorry this chapter is long. It's really hard not to write about the mother ( i don't want to say her name In case some of you haven't seen that yet lol) but really I love the mother so much she's so so cute and funny and a sweetheart and idk It's hard not to write about her, like I ship Barney & Ted sooo much but I also ship Ted & The Mother and then Barney & Robin and yeah so💖 and I really couldn't come up with a title for this and I realized I kept bringing up Marshall giggling again and again so hey
