YOONGI AND HYERIM were on their lunch break, leaving the younger staff to handle everything. Unlike them, they weren't as humble and only worked there because their parents forced them to. The only one that was decent was the newest worker. Yet, since Yoongi worked today, they made sure to be on their top behavior. Not only because he appeared intimidating to others that didn't know him like she did, but because he was also the schedule manager.
He enjoyed declaring if they did anything that irritated him, he would have their schedule messed up in a way where they wouldn't like it one bit. It was proven he would do it after one of the workers pushed him too far and he used his power to make him close for a month.
Yoongi could have gone out to help them, but instead, he chose to play a game of poker. She found it amusing.
"If I win," Yoongi began, narrowing his dark, feline-like eyes at his friend who hummed, indicating she was listening, "you get to close up today with the newbie."
Immediately, Hyerim grew competitive, narrowing her eyes at him. "The newbie?" she questioned disapprovingly. "The one that can't even get a to-go order right?"
Her manager smirked and nodded, pleased that it caught her attention. "Mhm."
She pondered on what her reward should be if she won. The two were both terrible at poker, always sitting anxiously to see who did worse than the other. They rarely betted on anything, and if they did, it was usually work related with something involving one of the new workers that didn't really do a good job.
She folded her arms and nodded, coming to her decision. A small smirk crept her lips. "All right," she agreed casually, glancing at her cards that were somewhat decent. "But if I win—"
"Like you will."
"I get to leave work early tomorrow to go to the pond."
Yoongi shrugged, his gaze diverting back to his cards. He brushed strands of his mint-green hair aside. "Sure," he mumbled, as took another card from the deck that was set aside.
The two went back to their game, being careful and calculated with each of the moves they made. Yoongi must have grown bored of the silence and decided to break it, giving a small hum, an indication that he wanted to strike up another conversation. She returned it, sneaking a glance at her friend.
He stayed silent for a brief moment, before speaking up. "Did the owner of the letter ever come by?" Yoongi asked curiously, glancing at her.
She nodded, shuddering from her interaction with the man. She didn't find it displeasing, but she did feel unsettled with needing to write a love letter in under three minutes. To her, it was that, that made her a tad bit uncomfortable with remembering the memory. At the same time, it boosted her ego when she recalled how he seemed content and impressed by the letter.
"And how'd that go?" he inquired, giving her his full and undivided attention. He sat up and waited for her response, wanting every bit of information.
She arched a brow, looking up at him. "Why do you seem so excited for this?" Hyerim questioned, folding her arms, catching how he tried to get a sneak glance at her cards.
