Picture: Random Guy as Matthew Asbury
And this is exactly what I picture Matt to look like! I hope this clears things up and you have a much better picture now. Again, if you know who this guy is, please let me know!
In this chapter, I'm putting in Chris' point of view as well so that you'll get to read more about him, and learn more about his and Dan's home life and their backgrounds. :)
ALEXIS
Today's the day. Christian and I have our Biology project to do and it's due tomorrow. I can't run from this.
She answers on the third ring.
"Kay, do me a favour?"
"Sure, what d'you need?"
"Do you have Dan's and Chris' address?" I ask urgently. "I need to meet him for our Bio project."
"Wow. I'm sorry. I wish I could help," she sympathises, since she knows what's going on between us. "I don't have his address, but I can ask him. Just give me a minute."
I wait a while and thank her once she reads his address out to me. Realising that he lives nearby, just about three blocks down, I decide to walk.
I ring the doorbell and hear a child squeal.
Then Daniel yells, "Get the door, dude. I'm busy!"
Christian yells back, "What the hell are you watching? Is that some sort of makeover show?"
"What? No! No, no. It's, uh... It's an ad."
"Sure, it is."
And finally, I hear footsteps coming toward the door.
When Christian opens the door, his eyebrows retreat to his hairline.
"Uh..." he asks, not knowing what to say. "Hi."
"Yeah, we need to talk."
"About?"
"Not out here. It involves actions too."
"Oh, that kind of talk? Well, in that case, come on in," he smirks, opening the door wider.
I roll my eyes. "I'm not here to joke around with you."
But I accept the offer to go in and I greet Daniel, who's sitting in front of his laptop, watching some videos on YouTube.
"So, what's up?" Christian asks seriously, finally understanding that I'm not here to make up with him.
"The project. We have to do our Bio project."
"'The project', huh? Is that what you're calling it?" he laughs. "I like it. Sounds very physical," he winks.
Okay, maybe he's not so serious.
"Look, I'm not kidding. I'm just here so that I don't fail this subject. Where can we work?"
He sighs. "Come on."
He leads me through a short narrow corridor and we end up in a room, probably his bedroom. It's pretty small, but feels really cozy. The walls are a dark gray and most of the furniture is black or white. There are posters covering his walls, and in a corner, next to his bed, is his one and only guitar.
He picks his laptop up from his desk, hands it to me, throws himself onto his bed then says, "Okay, what do we do?"
"We need to do some research on the Cape Sundew plant, also known as drosera capensis, then we have to present it," I inform him. "So I'm thinking, I can do the research and get the important stuff, and you can rephrase and summarise it and put it into PowerPoint or whatever. Then we'll plan on how to present it together."
