"Woods, are you okay?" I knocked on the bathroom door, hearing the incoherent sounds from the room.
"Yeah, I'm ok-" he tried to speak before being interrupted by his own gag. It was really bad.
"Hey, what is going on? Is he alright?" Connor came around hearing the unsettling noises.
"Food poisoning."
"Dude, he's been there for almost 20 minutes."
"Should we call an ambulance?"

How did we even get there? Let me rewind a bit...

I had a day off my work today and decided to pay my best friend, Woods, a visit at his workplace. He works in a youtube studio called Hi5universe, filled with kind and opened-minded people. I often visit Woods here when I don't have any work on my own in the afternoon, so I got to know few of his friends there and we hit it off pretty quick.

As I stepped in the office, I was welcomed by Connor, one of Woods' friends, with a hug.
"Hey there (Y/n)! Good to see you!"
"Hey, it has been a while."
"Sure was. Busy at work?"
"Don't even get me started." we shared a giggle there. That's when Woods came in.

"Oh hi, (Y/n). How are you? Didn't see you there lately"
"Missed you, dude." I said and spread my arms so he could hug me.
"Likewise." And he hugged me softly. I think this is the moment I should mention I have a small crush on Woods. I'm pretty sure he doesn't know and never will, because we've been best buddies for so long and I don't want to ruin in.

"Are you staying for lunch today? We're ordering takeout right now."
"Sure, if you guys don't mind."
"Please do. We really enjoy your company." Connor cut in with his pearly smile. I smiled back and he walked off to the kitchen to set the table. That's when I noticed Woods giving him a suspicious look. What was that supposed to mean? Then his phone ringed, letting us know the food was on the way. I brushed off my suspisions and followed the rest to the kitchen.

Our food arrived and we sat at the table. There was me, Connor, Woods, Sierra and Hannah. I started unpacking our order, handing little boxes to everyone and one by one, we started opening them. That is when Woods opened his and suddenly the whole kitchen filled with fishy smell.
"Dude, what did you get?" I asked.
"Sushi..." he replied, looking around confused.

"Sushi from fast food? Might as well order from gas station next time." Connor joked and we all laughed.
"What? I just wanted some sushi."
"Whatever you say." Connor waved his hand and sat down to eat.
"(Y/n), would you like to sit next to me and have some?" Woods asked and pointed at his food.
"Um... I can sit next to you, but I'll pass on the sushi." I said and sat next to him. He knew I loved sushi, but just... maybe not from the gas station.

There was something on his mind today, I could tell; first staring daggers, now this... he doesn't act like that usually. Without thinking much of it, we began to eat. I think it's quite clear no one else had fish for lunch today. We all shared the same thought that eating fish should be slow and calm to not upset your stomach and doing so in a noisy, rush place like work isn't a good idea.

When lunch was about to finish, I washed my cup and cutlery and was met by Woods at the counter, who threw the rest of his lunch away.
"Lost appetite?" I asked.
"Yeah, I kinda hoped it was better"
"Fishy, wasn't it?"
"Not a moment for puns" he burked. Ive had enough of this.
"What's the matter with you today!?"
"Huh? What?"
"You're being... strange."
"Ugh... I'm- I'm sorry, I..." he suddenly turned speechless and his face started to get pale. Within seconds, he looked very sick and kinda absent, like he couldn't focus because he was in an slight, but annoying pain.
"I need to go... somewhere." and just like he bolted out of the kitchen and was gone.

After lunch we got some work and socializing done, walked around a lot, so a soft lunch break suddenly turned into a busy day. Not willing to interrupt any of the following work and seeing how a small chaos started to occur, I've decided I should go for now. I wanted to find Woods to tell him that I'll be going, but he just vanished.

Instead, I found Connor, who seemed to have dropped his work for a moment and started looking for him too.
"Hey, Connor. I think I'll be going since the break is over. I don't want to distract anybody."
"That's a shame. I'd like you to stay longer, but I get it. By the way, have you seen Woodland? I can't find him anywhere." he stated, looking around.
"I was actually looking for him too."
"Well, he's not upstairs..."
"He's not in the offices either. Hmm..." As we were both investigating Woods' disappearance, we heard exclamations and banging on the door coming from the blue warehouse.

"Dude, please, wrap it up! I need to go really bad." It was Paul knocking on the bathroom door as it was occupied for presumably quite a while. Connor and I looked at the view, then at each other, then went to check what was exactly happening, which brings us to the moment from the  beginning.
"Is Woods in there?" Connor asked.
"Yeah, he felt kinda sick after that sushi he had for lunch."
"How bad is it?"
"I don't know. I'm not gonna eavesdrop on a man minding his business in the toilet!" Paul exclaimed indignantly.

After a moment of silence, we got scared that he had passed out and someone were ready to dial 9-1-1. Luckily that's when he came out of there, but looking very sick and pale. His expression turned a little more lively when he noticed how many people were awaiting his comeback.
"Hey there, what a lovely welcome. Before you ask any questions, I'm good. Yes, I've been throwing up, but I'm okay. I'll just sit down for a minute cause I'm still dizzy." Woods stated, passed everybody like nothing happened and made his way to the nearest couch. Matt (the responsive one he is) dialed for ambulance anyways and I walked up to the sick guy as we waited.

"I never thought you liked sushi." I started a small chitchat. Woods turned his head and his sleepy eyes, resting on the bags looked up at me.
"Not really honestly. I wanted to order it for you, I know how much you love it... but you were reluctant on eating it, so I downed it." he confessed unconsciously.
"Love, you do not order seafood from gas station. Ever."
"Did you just call me love?" Woods dodged my reasoning and pulled a metaphorical uno reverse card on me. I felt myself blushing, my cheeks and ears were burning.
"Nah, it's just your head hurting."
"Yeah, sure." He smiled slyly.

"How about you take a break? You look like you're going to pass out." I tried to change the subject and bring my concern over Woods' health as priority.
"Yeah, I might snooze for a minute." he admitted, before a big yawn came. His body surely didn't take that poisoning well. I sat next to him on the couch.
"Here. Have a nap, angel." I said, placing his head on my lap and ruffling his hair gently. Soon, he was asleep. He was still pale, his forehead was burning and his hair were messy, but despite the condition he was in, he didn't look anyless like an angel to me. I hope one day he'll realize that.
