Calamity (Joey)

Today was not my lucky day. Today hasn't been anybody's lucky day. Not to mention that I was the newest employee in the company so I was first one on the firing line. It was the moment I came to the blue base and people were filming a YouTube video. I didn't even know most of their names yet, but there was this one guy who already caught my eye. He was tall, blond, blue-eyed and... handsome.

I got applied for Hi5studios last week and two successfully completed projects later, I was transferred to blue base where I met new people. Well, not exactly new. As soon as I saw the blue-eyed guy, I realized that I've seen him before. Duh, He was my close friend from high school! He even asked me out once, but it was years ago! Then we parted ways, went to different colleges and never met again... until today. We sometimes called, but long-distance relationship are hard to manage.

As I walked into the warehouse, the company was in the middle of shooting a video, where they battled with toy guns (rip battle universe). One of the kind souls out there, Samantha, stepped out of the battlefield and showed me everything- around the offices, little kitchen, armory and my workspace. Last stop was at the warehouse again, where she proceeded to introduce me to everyone.

That's when my eyes and his have met. He got distracted from the "battle", when suddenly someone yelled "WATCH OUT!" and fired a series of bullets into his back. He fell and hit the camera tripod with his leg, which started falling straight at us with uncomfortable speed. Sam grabbed my sleeve and pulled me to the side. It got even more interesting (aka, dangerous) when the other guy's gun jammed and proceeded to fire foam ping-pong-ball-sized bullets everywhere.

When the noises finally stopped, I looked up at the employees, starring at the whole scene with horror in their eyes.
"You almost hit me in the face, Joey." was all that could get out of my mouth. Yup, that guy's name was Joseph.

"(Y/n), what are you doing there?"
"Not a good moment." I cut him off and look behind me at where everybody else glued their eyes to. Miraculously, the camera walked out without a scratch, however it left a mark on the wall. Okay, not a mark, a bloody watermelon sized hole.

"So... who are we gonna blame this on?"
"You fired the blaster, Cj." Joey turned to the guy behind him.
"And you fell on the stupid tripod!"
"Okay, before anyone says anything, I'm sure that there's a way we all can find a common ground-" Sam tried to comfort everyone.
"Honestly, I don't think that's fair and J-Fred should be punished for nearly killing that lady." someone pointed at me and people started to argue.

An argument was interrupted by Matthias, our boss, entering the warehouse.
"What's that all about?" he asked. Nobody dared to move or point their eyes at the damages. Until Joey, who also happened to be Matt's brother, decided to speak.
"Battle turned into a mess. Camera fell, gun jammed, I just found out my high school friend works here, I can go on."
"You two know each other?" Matt asked looking at me, then at Joey, then back at me.
"Yeah we do" we reply almost in synch. Matt only hummed, noting new information in his head, before turning his attention to the crime scene.

"Did the footage survive?"
"Walked out of it." Cj said as he let himself pick up the camera and go through the data.
"And what are you doing here?" Matt turned towards Sam and me.
"I was giving (y/n) a tour.."
"But you didn't interrupt the work of others by any chance?" He spoke half-joking, half-seriously.
"No!"
"Might've distracted them..." I said with my jaw clenched as I started stressing a little bit.

Matt sighed and told everyone to go back to work. And when I thought it was over he caught me in the passage and patted my shoulder.
"As for you, (Y/n)... I want you to go to your office and wait for me." Matthias said and went to his office for some documents. So, he views me as an object around which all this chaos occurred. Great. I just got applied for Hi5studios and now I'm facing a suspension. That escalated quickly.
