Mia's POV

"Mia..." someone nudged my arm, "Mia...! Are you okay?"

I snapped back into reality as my classmate June kept elbowing me.

"Huh? Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Sorry."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes,"

"Then why are you crying?" She arched an eyebrow.

I touched my face and felt the wet substance. I guess I was out of it again, I didn't even notice.

"Oh, I had something in my eye." I said as I rubbed my eyelids.

"You've been sitting staring at the wall for the whole lesson, the professor noticed." She said as she put her belongings in her bag.

"Ugh whatever, what's he even gonna do." I sniffled and wiped the rest of the residue of my unknown tears.

My past is the last thing I EVER want to think about. Why the hell did it just come up out of nowhere?

We headed for the exit but my professor stopped me. "Day dreaming in my class again Miss Rose?"

I waved June goodbye and she mouthed me 'good luck' with a worried expression on her face.

"No I—"

"Your grade has been going down in this class since last week Mia, it's not like you. Is everything okay?" The light blue jeans, plaid button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and his dainty chestnut colored hair didn't make this statistics professor look a day over 30.

"Yes I'm fine, just a bit tired that's all."

"For a whole week? You've been one of my most engaged students all semester, to see you go from that to this has me extremely worried Mia. Have you been working a lot again?" He took a seat at his desk. His long veiny fingers went through the mouse pad of his computer while his other hand stroked his silky hair back.

"Maybe..."

He sighed, "Well, I can't tell you to not work as much because education is indeed expensive, but try and take it easy. I'd hate to see if you end the semester poorly."

"Yeah I know, thanks." I turned around to leave.

"I'll try and do whatever I can to help you just let me know if you need anything alright?" His blue eyes sparkled with veracity.

"Yeah yeah," I chuckled, "thank you Mark." I turned to him once more and waved goodbye.

It's been almost 2 weeks since Alex's arrival and the awkward encounter. She's been staying with me, but usually spends her days with Julie. I run from one place to another so I don't get home until late at night, but her company has been nice. I've also seen Julie more than usual so that makes my days better.

I haven't heard anything about Jackson since that night. I haven't thought about him as much as before so it's been a stress reliever, though, it doesn't mean I'm not on my guard at all times.

And as for the incident, I haven't had any contact with V. Thankfully, well more like I ignored his calls and texts long enough for him to stop trying. Hopefully he's forgotten about the concert thing and me. I really don't want to drag him into this messed up life, even if it means playing the bad guy by pushing him away with my harsh words and attitude. I can tell his heart is already too pure and innocent, he doesn't deserve this. No one does.
