Liam's POV

A few hours since Jack appeared in the night, I can't help myself but fuss over my new son. Twenty is a young age to be adopting a kid, but how could I say no to those eyes.

Someone, in the middle of the night, needed to give up their baby, to a couple of strangers, hoping that they could have a better life. I guess they didn't have much trust in foster care, but at least they chose a good place. Niall and I talked on the drive home and agreed to fully commit to raising Jack.

So I don't think I'll ever look back and regret signing those papers, but what does that mean for me and Niall? Does this make us kinda married or a some sort of a couple? Well, I guess I should  ask him, while we're relaxing in his living room.

"Hey Niall," the Irishmen turns to me, looking up from the many baby pamphlets he's reading, "you know those papers we signed to adopt Jack?" He nods, turning his body to face me.

"Do they mean....?" I stop, since I'm not sure how to say it. "Like, does this make us this couple that adopted a baby?" I say awkwardly, trying not to sound too hopeful. Niall looked like he was thinking for a second as he let my words sink in. My heartbeat is starting to get faster as I think he might freak out over the assumption.

"Well," his starts with an unsteady tone, "it does state that we're his parents, and I do know that we are friends. Niall looked over to Jack, sleeping in his carrier, but Niall keeps going.

"Best friends, who adopted a baby together." Niall said with a sweet smile that made his eyes twinkle. And oh my God....

"I think someone's hungry." Niall teased when Jack woke up stomach grumbled. Jack looked up to Niall with a wanting look and gurgled while I did my best puppy face that I know, works on Niall.

"Okay-okay, stop with the eyes or I never going to make to the kitchen." Niall laughed, as we got up and made our way to the kitchen with Jack held firmly against Niall's body. With the moments that went by, I could not, for the life of me, stop staring at Niall.

What he said, made me start thinking. Having ideas.

Niall is a beautiful man, especially now that he's learned a few grooming tricks from Lou, our stylist. But even before that, I always marveled at Niall; the way his blonde hair hangs naturally on his head, the way his skin refuses to darken by going red or the way his eyes twinkle when he laughs or goes through some extreme emotion. And he fits the picture of a mother easily with his short height and skinny figure.

Naughty Liam...you ought to go stand in the corner for a bit.

"Alright, why don't we play with daddy for a sec, while I make us a late dinner?" Jack gurgled happily when Niall passed him over to me. I couldn't do much in the kitchen with Jack in my arms, so I went back to the living room where a couple of toys lay on a spot beside the couch facing away from the window. And once I sat down, Molly and Lolly came into the room and took note of Jack in my arms.

"Hey guys, come and welcome the newest member of our family, Jack Lawrence." Molly and Lolly scurried to get a good look at the baby, and when they did, Molly rubbed her little paw on Jack's head while Lolly rubbed his face against Jack's. The fur must have felt like bliss to my son, as he let out a cheerful laugh. The cats continued to look at him with all the attention a baby usually gets, and made themselves comfortable around him. I heard Niall laugh from the kitchen and found him looking through the archway, watching his pets snuggle with our son. And all he and I could do was laugh along with our son, as the cats continued to amuse the newest member of the Payne/Horan family.
