"So what kind of ring are you guys looking for?" The manager asked.
Mark and Areum were walking around the store together, looking at rings that were as expensive as college tuition. Their mothers were talking to the manager since they weren't that interested.
"Well it's for them two. There getting married. And we need something beautiful but not to wild. Something classy with a small pattern." Areum's mother said. Mark's mom nodded in agreement.
"I might have some options in the back. However I have one request. They might like the rings better if there alone to look at them. So their not pressured into picking one." He said. The two mothers shrugged.
"If that's what you want. Besides you know better anyway. Tell them we'll be at the café down the street." Mrs. lee said. They walked out of the shop.
"Hey guys I have a couple of rings over here." He said. They walked towards him.
"I don't want to sound rude but, you guys look a little young to get married." He said. They smiled.
"Well, it wasn't really our choice." Mark said. The man furrowed his eyebrows.
"It's an arranged marriage. Our two companies are aligning." She said. The man widened his eyes.
"Oh! You are Mark and Areum. Oh well. It's an honor that you chose to come to my ring shop!" He said, stuttering. Areum tried to hold in her laughter.
"Do you have a ring that says 'we're gonna be married for a year but we still have to show that we're a happy couple?" She said.
"That's a lot of words. I'm not sure they can inscribe that all on one ring, Areum." Mark said. She rolled her eyes but ended up laughing. Mark watched her as she tilted her head back and let out a sweet laugh. Watching her laugh made him smile. The manager smiled at the two.
"There's something in the back. I'll get it out for you, one second." He said, walking to the back. There was an awkward silence while the two of them looked around the shop.
"Real diamond?" He asked. She furrowed her eyebrows.
"You want a real diamond ring? I mean I can afford one obviously but-"
"Of course Mark! I'm not cheap." She said. He chuckled.
"I didn't say you weren't." He said. they both laughed.
"You do know I'm being sarcastic right?"
"Ok now your confusing me." He said. She laughed. The manager came back with two boxes.
"Are these what your looking for?" He asked. They both opened the boxes. Her ring was a golden ring with a big diamond on the front.
"It's nice but it's really heavy and visible." She said. Mark nodded in agreement.
"Do you have anything simpler?" Mark asked. He nodded and walked into the back. They walked around the store together.
"Here. How about I find a ring for you and you find one for me?" He said. She smiled and nodded her head.
She walked up to a section of wedding bands.
Their all to shiny, she thought to herself. When she was about to give up when her eye landed on a wedding band. It was a rusty silver and had a heart engraved on the inside.
She smiled at the ring and imagined the band on Marks arm and how it would look like when they intertwined their fingers. She smiled to herself but soon hid her smile and cleared her thoughts.
She turned around to find Mark but he was standing right in front of her.
"Oh! You found one too!" He said. She nodded her head. She held his ring up and Mark held hers up.
