Chapter 12

Jaylynn's POV

School and a baby wasnt easy, but as Archie was doing football more and wasnt really talking to me things got harder. When your family has work and you have school and a baby things can be hard.

"Hey you are you going to Homecoming this week?" Betty asks me.

"Nope." I say.

"What do you mean nope?" She questions.

"Im staying home with Jonah. Its just a stupid dance and someone has to be a parent." I say.

"You can take him to the game and then get dressed for the dance leaving him at home." She says.

"No Im good." I say.

I closed my locker and walked to my class. Durning class I got a phone call from my mom and my teacher let me go and answered it.

Phone Call.

Jaylynn: Mom? Is everything okay?

Gladys: I dont want to worry you sweetie, but Jonah has a small fever. I just got back from the doctors and he will be just fine. I just thought you should know.

Jaylynn: Can I come home? I want to be with my son.

Gladys: Sure hun I'll call the school.

End Phone Call

I packed up my stuff and when I went home taking my baby from my mom. He was crying and seeing him not feeling so well crushed me.

"Its okay sweetie. Mommy is right here." I say and bounced him in my arms and he started calming down.

"He really is okay, but Im glad your home. He really needed his mom." My mom says.

"I guess he did. Hey did you call Archie or Mary?" I ask.

"Yeah. Mary said she would come over if I needed anything and she called Archie. Then she called me saying Archie has football practice and cant miss it." She says.

"Of course he cant miss it." I say.

"Hey everything okay?" She asks.

"Yeah. Im gonna take him to my room and try to put him down for a nap." I say.

"Okay." She says.

I took Jonah to my room and placed him in his crib after he fell asleep. I did my homework for about two hours. When Jonah woke up he seemed alot better my mom had told me. As Jonah sat in my lap I just read him a book and then my door opened and Archie walked in. All sweaty and dirty from Football.

"Oh look what the wind blew in." I say.

"You seem mad at me. Never mind that is he okay?" Archie asks.

"Yeah the fever has gone down. He is fine." I say.

"Do you mind if I hold him?" He asks.

"Not at all." I say and handed Jonah to him.

"Im so happy your okay. Sorry I couldnt be here earlier." He says.

"He cant understand you." I say.

"I wasnt talking to him. Why are you so mad at me?" He asks.

"Im not." I say.

I sat in my bed just watched them and Im just mad at him. Jonah then fell asleep and Archie placed him in the crib.

"Look..." Archie says.

"Bye." I say.

He just looked at me and grabbed my arm and pulled me into the living room no one was in there so it was just us.

"Okay your mad at me and I dont understand why. What is wrong with you?" He asks.

"Nothing." I say.

"Thats a lie. Now talk." He says.

"Im going to bed." I say.

"Jaylynn you make no sense. You know how I feel about you, you dont want anything to do with me, and yet your mad at me. I do not understand." He says.

"Well right now Im mad because it seems like football is all you care about now and I have to take care of him. You know my grades have slipped because Im doing all the work. You know while your doing football and gods know what. So thats why Im mad at you." I say.

"Jaylynn.. Listen Im sorry, but I have to work hard at football and gain access to a scholar ship for college. That stuff is very important so I can get a job and make things better for him." He says.

"Oh goodie for you. You can leave now. I need to get to bed." I say.

I went back to my room and shut the door. Great he wants to leave and acts like I dont have a future. Ugh great Archie is going to be some superstar or something and Im just going to be just the one he knocked up in high school.
