9. The One with the girl talk

"She really did that?" I ask in disbelief.

"She did," Josh replies.

"How did you manage to hire the craziest PA on the planet?" 

"Luck, I guess. "

"I really want to meet this girl."

"Oh you'd love her. She wears the brightest clothing ever! Today she was wearing a yellow pants suit with a peach blouse," he explains. 

"Promise you'll take a picture of her on Monday if she wears anything bright."

"A picture. Really? I can't just take a picture of one of my employees. That'd be weird."

"Point being?"

"Hailey get off the phone we have to leave!" Jess shouts.

"We have half an hour!" I shout back.

"I don't want to be late!"

"Fine!" I shout back.

"So you have to go?" Josh asks.

"Yeah...Jess is getting impatient. But I'll call you when I get back?"

"Sure. Where are you going though?" he asks.

"To meet with Father Stephens."

"At 6 on a Friday evening?" 

"Yes because apparently he doesn't have a hot date planned for tonight. But I really do have to go okay."

"Fine. Talk to you later," he says.

"Bye," I reply before hanging up. 

I quickly get up and grab my bag before walking out my room to see an annoyed Jess. 

"We are not going to be late," I tell her.

"I wanted to be early though," she says.

"Why?"

"Why did you feel the need to phone Josh?"

"He phoned me."

"Like that's any better. What could you two possible have to talk about. I mean you did see him yesterday. And the day before. Actually you've seen him every single day this week!"

"He was telling me about what his crazy PA did today. She is quite funny," I say. 

"Never mind that now. Just go hail a cab," she tells me in a stern voice.

I sigh but do as I'm told and 15 minutes later we arrive at the church. Obviously Ashton isn't there yet because we're 10 minutes early. I send Jess a glare and she just sends me a sheepish look. We stand waiting for a couple of minutes until Ashton arrives. 

"Hi Hailey," he says sending me a smile before wrapping his arms around Jess.

He kisses her for a few moments before she squeals and says, "Ashton! We're at a church!"

"I really do not need to be seeing this," I say before covering my eyes.

"Go phone Josh then," Jess tells me.

"Is there something I need to know about?"Ashton asks me and I shake my head.

"Can we just go inside already?"

"Of course. Come on," Jess says and I watch as Ashton links his fingers through Jess's and they walk in together.

For a brief moment I feel a pang of jealousy. For a moment I wish I was the one getting married instead of Jess because once she gets married I'll be alone. I quickly shake the thought out of my head. This is my best friend here and she deserves to be happy so I need to stop with the pity parties.
