I've got to be free, free to face the life that's ahead of me

Lucy POV
"Well, if it isn't little orphan Lockwood. Come to show how laughably impotent you are against me?" Nik asked Tyler who walked through the door with Caroline."I'm just trying to help my friends find the cure." Tyler said to us revealing the sword. "I Found this in your attic." I
"And you think finding the sword brings you closer to the cure?" Nik asked.
"You tell me. I was playing around with the handle on the ride over, and I found this." Tyler said.
"And what do you think 'this' is?" Nik asked.
"It's called a cryptex." Caroline said. "I've seen The da Vinci Code. You turn the different sides to the different symbols to get the translation on the other side. And with the magic of the internet, Elena sent over these. So now all we have to do is cryptex away. If you happened to want to help, we wouldn't stop you."
"Right. Well, might I suggest using the magic of the internet to purchase an Aramaic-to-English dictionary from your nearest retailer." Nik smirked.
"What's Aramaic?" Tyler asked.
"It's a dead language. It hasn't been used since, like, biblical times." I told him.
"Qetsiyah's native tongue, I'm guessing. You know, even if you had the best dictionary in the world, it could take days to translate. Perhaps weeks. "In bas so-teen-too ara-ma-eet." Nik said.
"What does that mean?" I asked.
Nik grinned "If only you spoke Aramaic."

Caroline was on her computer doing research trying to translate the symbols.
"Okay, this is it. We've translated all the symbols on the tattoo." She said.
"About time." I mumbled.
She glared at me before reading. "Passage inside... requires a young senator, and a pretty flower."
"Okay, none of this makes sense!" I sighed.
"It says it requires a powerful witch and a hunter in full bloom." Nik stated.
"What are you doing?" Tyler asked Nik.
"I don't need to tell you my reasons. Caroline. Bring my sword over here." Nik said.
Caroline slid the sowed through the barrier.
"Silas rests on the far side, the means of his destruction at hand." He gsaid glancing between Jeremy's tattoo on the computer
And the sword. Nik turned the cryptex and stopped."The top of the hilt reveals a key to a nautical map." He said turning it again. "There's something else." He said.
"What?" I asked.
"There is only one dose." He said.

Caroline called Rebekah to tell her they figured out the puzzle."Hello?" I heard Rebekah ask.
"Put her on speaker." I told Caroline.
Caroline rolled her eyes at me. "Fine." She said. "Hey, it's Caroline. We have the translation of the tattoo. We're emailing you pictures of the map and instructions right now."
"Hi Becks!" I yelled.
"Lucy?" She asked.
"Yep I saved your brothers ass and I am stuck in here." I told her.
I could hear her sigh through the phone. "Damn witch. I got it Caroline thank you." Rebekah said.
"Actually, it was me who found it." Nik said.
"Nik, you helped?" Rebekah asked shocked.
"You sound so surprised, little sister." Nik said.
"Shouldn't I be? I mean, you don't want me to be human. You don't want any of us to be human. Why would you help us find the cure?" She asked.
"Maybe I finally realized the longer I stand in the way of what you want, the longer you'll continue to hate me. Perhaps I want my sister to finally know happiness." Nik said making me smile.
"Fool me once, shame on you; fool me a hundred times--" Rebekah said.
"No more fooling. No more games. I hope you get to live, and die, as you wish." Nik said.
"So do I." She mumbled.
"There is one more thing, Rebekah." I told her. Caroline and Tyler looked up at me. "There is only one dose of the cure. You need to find it first and take it. It's the only way you'll--" I was cut off by Tyler ending the call.
"What?" I asked smirking.
***************************
I sat in Elena's house when I felt the energy change. I looked at Nik who was also confused if the sudden change of energy.I went over to the barrier and put my hand up against it pushing. My hand went right through.
Nik smirked at walking out the door. Caroline was sitting on the porch.
"How did you get out?" She asked.
"I fear something awful has befallen your friend Bonnie." Nik said.
Caroline tensed at this. "Don't worry blondie we aren't going to hurt you." I told Caroline.
"Come on Nik." I said pulling him behind me.
************************
I sat on Nik's bed and he was laying beside me."Do you want the cure?" He asked me.
I sighed. "I don't know part of me does to be normal to just live...."
"But?" Nik asked.
"I don't know." I muttered.
Nik sighed. "I want the best for you and I don't think a vampire is included in that. I know you want a family, kids, watch them grow up."
"You're right I did want that. I'm to unattached now I could never actually live through that. I don't know how to take care of kid." I said. "I actually enjoy being a vampire I see the world. I see history happen everyday around me. I've seen so much and plan seeing so much more and I would be willing to let go of some stupid petty human things." I told him.
"But you did want it." Nik said.
"And then a bitch named Katherine came and turned me into a vampire." I told him. "My friends are vampires, my brothers, Kol, Rebekah, Elijah, you."
Nik smiled at my words.
"I just couldn't leave you here while I live my human life. I have much more going for me as a vampire than I would as a vampire." I told him.
I looked into his eyes they were very green today. I leaned down to kiss him and he pulled me on top of him.
That night was full of sweet tender little kisses and love. Actual love.
