They turned off the corridor and walked to the second row of the chairs in the hall. It took a long inveiglement to be able to bring Amin to the fashion show. She knows undeniably that he hated things like that, but what else will she do, when the only option left for her was to make sure she made it to the show, and Amin himself will not let her come alone that night. The room was scarcely filled, just the first two rows were occupied already. Noiselessly, they occupied the three available seat at the second row, Amirah being at the centre while Neelam at the other end.
Sighting them, Hannah scuttled to them with mounting feelings of excitement. "Oh my, you guys made it here." She clutched at Amirah's hands tightly and turned her face towards Amin. "Hi Amin thanks for coming."
"Assalamu alaikum. How's everything going on?"
"Great!"
"When is the show commencing I'm getting impatient." Neelam said, and Hannah looked towards her.
"Anytime from now. Let me go and change." She let go of Ami's hand and scurried back to the changing room.
"All the best!" Amirah's clamor went after her as she lugged out of the audience corner.
After Hannah had left, Amirah's gaze wandered around the hall. The hall was beautifully lit and glitters radiantly from the scattered chandelier lights. The neon signal suspended at the entrance strobed familiar flickers of radiance sprinkling with the name of the fashion house. The stage was carpeted in mahogany pieces trailed down from the changing room to the front of the audience. People were trooping into the hall, some in groups while some individual. Music filled the air silently like the Whispers of nightly ghost.
"I wonder when this thing will end, I'm getting tired already." Amin complained bitterly.
Amirah held his hand and squeezed gently. "I'm so sorry for making you come here."
"Is okay, anything for you," An assurance smile ruffled his smooth face.
"I swear if not for Hannah I won't be here too." Amirah wrinkled her nose unbiasedly.
"I love fashion shows, we usually buy ticket me and didi anytime they're doing it." Neelam's face exploded with a smile. "I miss them seriously." A sour countenance took over her pleasant nature instantly.
Amirah placed her hand on Neely's shoulder, one of her hand held firmly into Amin's. "I'm sorry your turn will come soon Insha Allah."
"That's if I want to get married anytime soon. Maybe in five years coming."
"You're mocking right?" Amirah gaped at her, and Amin gave her same quizzical look.
"I wanted matchmaking you with one of my friend. He said he's interested in marrying an Indian."
"Nah," neelam shook her head with a smile. "We don't marry anyone but a Hindu."
"I see," Amin nodded.
Hannah came back to them with three wrapped plastic cups and three packets of crisp.
"Some mochaccino if you don't mind." She handed the trio each a cup and a crisp. My treat for making it here."
"Are you bribing us to stay." Neelam said as she collected the package from Hanna.
"You, I want to buy your loyalty, because you have the face of betrayal." She traced back to where she came from. "the make-up artist is too slow, I'm suppose to be the next person." She clamored to them as she disappeared from to where she came from.
"Thanks for the coffee," Amirah said in a slightly high pitched tone to make sure the message get to Hannah.
She unwrapped her coffee and sipped gently. "I don't know why I like coffee so much."
