The Logan Inn is a real place - and it is the oldest continuously operating taverns in Bucks County, PA. The scene where McKenna tells Loki about the inn being haunted is based on my own personal interest in the paranormal and research I've done regarding such activity.
Back in the early 1990s, I'd come across a book of haunted places thought the United States. Having spent a great deal of time in New Hope, which is a beautiful artsy town, I knew the Logan Inn, as my mom and I had lunch there practically every time we visited New Hope. Then I read about the alleged hauntings, and so on my next visit, I asked the hostess about them. Unfortunately, I cannot recall her name, but she was a delightful woman who answered all of my questions about the haunted wedding portrait at the top of the staircase and let me into the haunted guest room. Unfortunately, I had the same experience as McKenna. If there is a ghost in that room, it kept to itself that day.
McKenna also makes mention of a gargoyle shop. Gothic Creations did exist and I have quite a few of their awesome gargoyles. Unfortunately, in the course of my research for this story, I learned that the shop closed its doors in 2009.
