"Catherine Boss," Called the teacher in a solid voice as he looked up to the girl's empty seat. He let out a sigh as the rest of the class giggled words like, "The human's done it again."

"Don't you remember she is a 'Mundane Witch'." The children continued muttering about the Witch with two human parents. Really, she is quite special, the girl is the most human of them all. The least power but she knows how to feel emotions more than any other witch in the academy. All they focus about is there power and wealth. The teacher hushed the class as he continued the roll. Before he could read the next name, the so called 'Mundane Witch' burst through the big, dark-wood doors puffing noticeably.

"How nice of you to show up Catherine Boss!" Exclaimed the teacher watching Catherine scowl as he threw her mundane name at her like an insult.

"I thought so, especially since you gave me a dodgy broom," grinned Catherine as she took a seat,  smiling gracefully. Catherine is naturally beautiful, she doesn't have that powered look plastered over ever feature of her face like everyone in the Iverdeen academy of the peculiar arts. The teacher had no response and decided to spare her an extra day of detention.

By lunch time Catherine was exhausted from having to make up for this morning with polite small talk. She now had an hour all to herself. With a swift movement of her finger her bag danced onto her back her hands moving to her own beat as she pulled her lunchbox out of her bag and let it levitate in the air for a few seconds before jumping up and plucking it from her spell. Basic levitation spell. She let out a sad sigh at that and continued out of the school's massive archway into the courtyard. She walked up to a big brick wall keeping the students in the school. There are a few sweet spots if you know where to look though. She traced a brick that colour varied ever so slightly from the basic greys that are used to build the whole wall. She had investigated the wall for days and found out that there were only five exact grey tones used. The ones that varied from the basic colours, which she of course made swatches of, are the sweet spots. All Caitlin had to do was trace the rough brick with her calloused finger and it would fall out of the wall. Then all the bricks around it turn a dark grey to make the shape of a door. Only then may you walk through the darkened bricks and cross to the Dark Forest. A place full of daring creatures. A place that this very academy has forbidden. Yet, no one in this school listens to that rule. Rituals and parties of all sorts are held in this very forest. Not all the forest is banned though, obviously the school needs to use the path leading to the school. The Great Witch of New Zealand ensured travelling down the path would be safe and cast spells to keep the evil creatures of the forest from the path.

Catherine is never tired of the smell of pine and gorgeous, tall trees. As she follows the brick wall inspecting the ground. It's weird, as Catherine walks, she can almost feel the presence of evil. Like an impending doom weighing heavy on her shoulders. She grabs her bag from her back and chucks it to the ground. She follows bending toward the dirt and resting her back on the stone wall. With a rough tug she pulls a smudge stick from her bag followed by her wand. She uses an illumination spell to light the smudge stick. She keeps the wand in hand and burning incense as she leaps from the ground. Something still isn't right. This feeling has only ever come up once. When she had been wandering the forest. It had been several weeks ago. For some dumb reason Catherine followed it. Followed that horrid feeling, somehow what she found was even more horrifying. She had found a massive Lobias carcass. A Lobias is a massive, deer-like creature though its mouth opens as if it were a flower lined with sharp, bloody teeth and atop it's head are astronomical, silver antlers. Terrifying creatures really, Catherine could never imagine anything being able to kill it. Catherine ran as soon as she saw the Horror. A Lobias is, in fact, the most dangerous creature. Somehow something just killed it. Cut its guts and Catherine knew what the worst part was, the carcass hadn't been eaten. Whatever killed, just killed it, as if for...fun.

Catherine begins scouring the walls. She can't be here. The feeling is getting worse...it's coming.
