Logan awoke to the knock at his cottage door. He groaned and sat up in his bed, and looked out the window, only to find that the sun was just rising.
"Come in Patton." He called. Not even a second later his friend burst through the door with a smile on his face and one of his trade-mark light blue dresses on. He set his basket on his table and pulled out some toast with homemade jam on it for Logan.
"Come on! We got to pick Virgil before the market opens. You'll never guess who'll be here today!"
Logan sighed and got himself dressed. Then, he and Patton walked to the stables and got Logan's horse and wagon out. Patton filled the wagon with his stand and supplies, while Logan ate his breakfast. Then they set off to Virgil's house.
"You'll never guess who's coming to the market today!" Patton exclaimed
"Who?"
"The prince and the duke! They're coming to see the Sunday market place this year in order to find a new tailor and baker for the castle." Patton squealed.
"There's no doubt in my mind that you'll be chosen." A voice above them. They looked up to see Virgil and on his broom.
"Virgil!" Patton exclaimed as he landed. He gave him a big hug, and Logan waved hello.
"I thought we were going to meet you at your house." Logan asked.
"Yeah," Virgil sighed. "My mother woke up this morning acting crazy, and telling me how I shouldn't go out today or she'll lose me, or something like that."
"Why didn't you just stay in then?" Patton wondered. Virgil's mother was an oracle for their kingdom, but lately she had been going a bit crazy.
"She also told me this morning that the moon was having a fight with some monkeys, so I'm guessing she's just out of it today." Virgil answered as he placed his box full of things to sell in their wagon. Patton giggled as Logan and him redirected their wagon towards the square.
They talked for a while about how last week went, and how excited they were for the market visit. As they approved the square they saw Deceit waiting for them at the well. The entire market seemed to becoming alive in with the stands in rows behind the market square shops. You could pay shop owners to have your stand next to a shops on special occasions like this one, but since Logan and Deceit's new library was in the marketplace, they let their friends set up their stands around his store.
"Well hello friends, you seem to be early." Deceit said, coming over to help his friends with their wagon as they approached the library. They all helped set up Patton's stand and hang up all of his work, and then they all helped Virgil carry out a stand from the library and display his items on the stand. The group chatted by the steps of the building and sold things to customers for half and hour.
Then everyone in the marketplace went silent. You could almost hear the sewing needle drop from Patton's stand. They looked up the prince and the duke coming around the corner of the square. The group quickly tidied up their spaces. Patton and Virgil rushed to the front of their stands, and Logan and Deceit stood at the steps of the library.
"Why hello there." The prince said, bowing towards Patton. Patton giggled as the prince kissed his hand. "My name is Roman, and this is my brother Remus."
"Yeah, yeah, is this a library?" Remus said. Roman sighed.
"Remus we're not here to sight see, we're here to find a tailor and a baker.
"Yes this is a library. My friend and I recently bought it" Logan said gesturing to Deceit who gave a small wave.
"Can I look inside?" Remus asked. Logan and Deceit glanced at each other.
"Sure, why not." Deceit replied.
"Well, while you guys look at the library," Roman said and winked at Deceit and Logan. "I'll stay and chat with these dashing young men out here. Roman said and winked at Patton and Virgil. The four friends all got flustered. They had all had crushes on the prince and the duke in their childhood, and this seemed too real to be true.
Deceit blinked a couple times to regain his composure before quickly leading Remus into the library. Remus looked like a kid in a candy store. He bounced from shelf to self looking at all the books. Every couple minutes he'd ask Logan or Deceit about a peculiar books like muder mysteries and heavy romance novels. After about 20 minutes Roman came into the shop with Patton and Virgil in tow.
"Brother, I believe we've found a new tailor, and perhaps a new healer." Roman said gesturing to Patton and Virgil.
"I said I'll think about it." Virgil said.
"Okay." Roman said stretching out the o. Virgil punched him in the arm.
"You're lucky I'm not calling my grads on you." Roman jokingly. "Patton is definitely my favorite now." He said, linking his arm with Patton's. Remus looked up from the book he was currently entered.
"Okay, we can leave. Just let me purchase this book quickly."
"There's no need." Logan said.
"Yeah, you can consider it as a gift from us." Deceid said.
"Really? Thanks!"Remus said and gave them all a hug. Remus and Roman began to leave the shop after said their goodbyes.
"Wait!"
