Still half asleep, I turned over expecting to wrap my arms around Korin but I was met by emptiness. I felt around a little more thinking that she was further over, but there was still no sign of her body. I opened my eyes to check again only to be blinded by the sun's rays. Of course, she was up with the curtains sprawled wide open. I rolled onto to my back and rubbed over my eyes as an attempt to wake myself up for the day. If Korin was already up and at 'em that meant that I should have been up and doing the same.

I allowed a couple of minutes to transpire before I climbed out of the bed. I walked into the bathroom, took my morning piss then brushed my teeth. Afterward, I decided to search for Korin. The villa, which was our home for the week, was quite spacious for just the two of us. It included five bedrooms and three bathrooms spread across two floors. In the backyard was an infinity pool along with a miniature trail to the nearby beach.

After a lap around the villa, I was back in the living room and had yet to find Korin. She was nowhere to be found, but I knew she was here somewhere. She had to be.

"Where is this girl?" I muttered.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you." a pair of arms snaked around my waist. "Happy birthday dear Giovanni. Happy birthday to you."

"You lowkey scared me." I turned around in her arms and gave her a kiss.

She grinned. "You're ready to open your first gift?"

"Gift? I didn't ask you for a gift."

"But I got you one anyway." she spun around and pulled me toward the living room. "Have a seat while I go and get it."

I sat down on the couch while watching her switch off toward the room. Still a bit tired, I released a yawn and sunk down into the cushions. It didn't take her long to come walking back into the living room with one of her arms behind her back. Her lips were tucked but I could still make out the smile on her face.

She straddled my lap and pulled her arm from behind her. In her hand was a white rectangular box. It wasn't small enough to be jewelry and it wasn't big enough to be clothing.
