After taking the first steps into the cold, dark cave, the girls were each seprated into groups of five so if one got lost, they wouldn't be alone.
Rowena and Helga were paired together and three more girls who were best friends joined them shortly after their names were read by Caron.
One of them had short green hair and had a smirk on her face while the other two had their hair up in ponytails and looked like they were twins.
"Am i the only one who thinks that green one is Salazar's soulmate?" Rowena whispered to Helga with a laugh.
"Don't say that anywhere near Godric." Helga joked back, unaware of how real her warning was.
"Remember laidies, there are dangerous creatures living here so please stick with your groups and only call on me in cases of great danger. All your skills will be put into test here." Caron stopped after seeing a girl raise her hand.
"But professor, weren't you supposed to guid us through the journey? Besides, how can we protect ourselves without our wands?" the girl with short green hair complained with a cocky face and crossed arms.
"I was just about to get there, miss Barrot." Caron polity replied with a smile before continuing.
"You will have your wands back and I will be guiding you by giving you instructions as soon as you reach every stop. The goal here is to get out of this place safely and in one piece. With that being said, I'm pretty sure your professors have taught you all you need to know." He was handing everyone their wands while talking.
"Oh, one more thing before i leave. You will meet up with boys at some point here. Feel free to work with them if you need to. You will be monitored." and with that, he headed towards the entrence.
"Good luck." He whispered to Helga and Rowena on his way out.
"Now what do we do? Where do we start?" Helga asked with her shoulders raised up.
Rowena scratched her forehead, trying to think of an answer. "You two are the ones who defeated those black dimond guys." one of the twins said with a wide smile which Rowena returned with a smile of her own.
"Ugh. Whatever. Let's move. I say we start from there-" the one with green hair gestured a dark hole in one of the corners. "and continue our search." she suggested.
"Hold on! We've learned a thing or two about navigation spells and besides, we were highly advised against going inside those dark and unknown places literally just now, green tea." Rowena angrily protested.
"It's Louise." she said with her arms crossed. "Go ahead then, show us the way and we'll go." she added with her eyebrows raised.
After a few minutes of walking on rocks, the weather started getting hotter and hotter which eventually, made everyone take off their fur coats and glasses.
The torches hanging on the walls lit up the dark cave perfectly. "Remind me why we can't use our wands for lighting, again?" one of the twins asked the other. "Bats." the sister simply answered.
The old ceiling on their head got lower with every step they took but the beauty of the crysrals hanging from it mesmerised many people, making them forget about their claustrophobia.
"How many groups do we have behind us?" Louise asked Helga. She looked behind her and said "I'd say three... Or maybe two."
"It's understandable. They must've felt nauseous or something." Louise added. "Yeah. Claustrophobia is not fun." Helga said with a nod.
They got to a stop named "The witche's nose" and they immediately heard Caron's voice talk.
"Congratulations laidies. You've reached your second stop. If it is your first stop, then you've got here using a shortcut, meaning that you've used your navigation spells and skills correctly." he chuckled.
"Very good. Now, take a close look at the wall infront of you." everyone brought their attention to the wall full of crystals.
"Can you see that long, pointy crystal that stands out more than the others? That's called the witche's nose cause apparently, that's what Muggles think a sorcerer's nose should look like." he added.
"I've heard a lot about this Caron guy and honestly, he's not half as cool as the seniors say." Louise complained with her left eyebrow raised higher than her right one.
Rowena rolled her eyes angrily at her teammate's comment.
"Note that any loud, sudden noises are enough to attract ogres. So, be careful." the professor added.
The cave got darker as they went further. They could hear screams coming from different directions every now and then.
"Are there any groups behind us?" Louise asked Helga. "You tell me." she answered while trying to read the signs on the walls. Louise looked back and stopped.
"Guys..." Helga and Rowena turned around. "What's wrong?" Rowena asked with a careless voice.
"We're... Alone. Where are the others?" Louise panicked."Don't worry about it. They've probably took different shortcuts or got lost. Good thing we still have each other. Let's move on." Rowena shrugged her shoulders after finishing her sentence.
Louise sighed and followed her group.
-EXPLOMO
Helga chanted while leaning her hand on a wall and focusing on Godric."Helga?" she heard a weak eco call her name. "Godric? Can you hear me? Did it work?!" Helga asked with excitment.
"Yes. I can hear you. Where are you now? We were told that you guys were going to be seprated into groups." Godric's voice faintly spoke.
"Yeah. Are you not moving in groups?" Rowena asked with a frown.
"We're on our own. Our challenge is different than yours. Where are you two now?" Godric asked while breathing heavily."We were just about to walk on a wooden bridge thingi-" they heard Godric groan. "Okay..." he added before the small hole on the wall closed.
"What in the world was that?" Louise asked curiously. Helga and Rowena excahnged looks before deciding to explain their spell to their teammate.
The explanation went on as they took careful steps on the wooden bridge. "I just looked down. Don't look down." Rowena shut her eyes and stopped in the middle of the bridge.
"Move it! This place is too dark and the bridge feels like it's about to break right here, right now." Helga slightly pushed Rowena.
After what felt like an eternity, they were finally able to get to the other side.
"Ok guys, i think we're gonna have to be very quiet. Look at that sign." Helga pointed at a sign which read
"Lies the great one in the great cave, look at his mirror and you'll lose what they crave."
"This doesn't make any sense. Who are 'they'?" Louise asked with a frown. "We're going in." she added.
"We're going in? Why would we go in? It said to NOT do that." Rowena angrily pointed at the sign.
"We don't have anywhere else to go! What are we going to do? Dig a tunnel under the ground and continue our way from there?" Louise argued which made Rowena think.
"Wait. Where are the twins?" Helga asked anxiously while looking around.
"They chickened out. Are you gonna do the same or are we going in?" Louise pointed her thumb at the dark hole.
