If Only You Knew (Gryfferin Au)

-The vault of nature (1)-

  It was early in the morning. Too early. Not even the birds were up. Godric opened his eyes.

He was still in the same sleeping position as he was when he went to sleep. He tried to get up but his body was sore from being in the same position for too long. He had to hear a few 'pop' sounds here and there everytime he moved his body, attemping to get up from his deep sleep and check on Salazar.

  He finally got up and sat on Salazar's nightstand. He stared at the dark haired boy lying peacefully infront of him. He was... Beautiful.

He tried shaking the feelings away and focus on Salazar's scars but he didn't seem to be very successful.

The scars were pretty much all gone. All that was left were just light scratches. It looked like he had itched his face too hard and it had left a mark.

  "Mmmm..." Salazar moaned in pain. Godric froze for a brief second in excitement of hearing that his friend was conscious.

He then saw Salazar's eyes slowly opening. It was actually happening. He was waking up. Salazar looked at Gordric with half open eyes. Still looking hurt and tired and just said "I feel.. Tired." and with that he closed his eyes and drifted back to sleep.

Godric sighed in relief and decided to get dressed. It couldn't hurt to start the day a couple hours earlier.

He was thinking about last night and how he got Rowena in trouble as well. But in order to distract himself, he got his wand out of his cupboard and started working on a spell that Salazar and him were trying to master.
 
They had been trying to invent this spell for a long time and now, they were trying to master it and put into good use.

  "Explomo" Godric said and waved his wand three times, aiming it to a wall he was standing close to.

It was the first time that the spell had actually worked. There was a tiny hole on the wall. Then he heard a familiar voice say " Godric?" he was shocked. It was Rowena's voice.

"Rowena? Can you hear me?" he asked. "Y...Yes. But how? I just felt like i heard your voice and then i saw a hole appear on my wall." Rowena whispered. "Get yourself to the library. I'll explain everything there." Godric stated. "Meet you there in a few minutes." Rowena replied, still sounding confused.

  "Wait. I'm coming with you." Salazar said, Lying on his bed and holding his upper body up on his elbows. Godric just shook his head and told him to rest but Salazar protested.

He pushed himself off the bed and took a few steps to the closet to change into his uniform, consisting of a white shirt with a grey tie and black pants.

He definitely looked better than last night but still, not well enough to come to the library and for none other reason but a punishment. But he insisted and as always, had it his way.

Before leaving the dormitory, Salazar asked Godric if they still had Nemusa's book and asked him to take that with him as well.

  The boys then headed towards the library and waited for Rowena. Who also joined them after minutes. "Hey. Are you okay? You're supposed to be resting. Godric! Why did you let him come?" Rowena asked.

"First of all, he can't stop me from doing what i want to do and second, we need to know why Nemusa had the Vault with her. Come one. Let's find a seat"

  The library was quiet. There were around 5 people so finding empty chairs and desks weren't hard.  Godric reappeared the book and put it on a table after they all gathered around.

"You're really testing my limits here. I've never had any problems solving things but it's too hard to figure you out sometimes, Salazar. What is the Vault? Nemusa didn't have any vaults in her room." Rowena asked, completely confused.

  Salazar looked up at her and smiled "Well thank you for the compliment. And to asnwer your question, you are looking at the Vault right now." he said while holding the old book up close to his face. "This is a very old book. It has literally everything you need to know about magical animals, shape shifting and the animal's specific locations." Salazar continued. "So that's why she's so good at shapeshifting." Godric stated.

Salazar shook his head and said " Thats not what scares me. This book can also teach you how to have the ultimate power over the wildlife and its power." Salazar replied.

"Why in the bloody hell would Nemusa want such sort of a power? Besides, where did she get this book from in the first place?" Rowena asked. "That's what we need to find out." Salazar replied.    

  With that, they decided to start searching the library bit by bit to find more information about the book. And after an hour or two, they did but it was mostly things that they already knew.

It was also the time for Godric and Rowena to start cleaning up the library as their punishment and since Slazar had called in sick, he decided to sit in a corner and read the Vault of nature while his friends were sorting the books and still trying to find more information.

      
                 *three hours later*

  It was about time for a break so Rowena and Godric decided to check on Salazar to see if he had made any progress on understanding the book since it was written in riddles and codes. "Hey. Anything new?" Godric asked Salazar.

He just shook his head as a no. Rowena rolled her eyes and said "How about you leave that to me and help Godric with cleaning? I told you, I'm pretty good with mystries and riddles." Salazar looked at her with disbelief and handed her the book.

"I couldn't get anything out of it. I don't think a witch can do any better than me. But I'll let you have fun. So.. Here you go." Rowena ignored him and got to work.

  Salazar and Godric walked back to the section that he was cleaning with Rowena and started sorting the books and cleaning them up.

"By the way, i managed to make 'Explomo' work." Godric told his friend. "For real?!" Salazar asked. "How?" he continued.
" I.. I really don't know." Godric answered.

"Im really sorry." Godric said with a slight frown on his face. "Nah thats fine. We'll figure it out."

Godric felt embarressed and said "No..Not because of that." Salazar gave him a poker face and said "If you say last night i will turn you into a snake. I don't remember much but i do know one thing. You saved us. And you saved the Vault. Any idea what Nemusa would've done if she still had the book and was able to find the answers to the mysteries.. Well... Maybe she has but at least we have the book now and we can catch up." Salazar answered his friend.

"By the way... Where there only two beds in the room this morning or was i hallucinating?" Godric smiled at Salazar's question and said " We'll discuss that later."
