Chapter 2

Nova’s POV

I looked up at Niall’s eyes, freezing under his stare. He was still on top of me, with chicken in my hair. Our moment was ruined when Mr. Porter pulled him off of me.

“Niall! I am terribly sorry! Our waitress can be quite a screw-up! Please let me help you clean up!” He said, brushing off bits of food off him.

He led the blonde boy to the bathroom, leaving me on the ground. All the other employees followed, leaving it to be just me and Tess in the dining area. I sat up from my lying position, resting my elbows on my knees. I sighed looking up at Tess.

“Yep, thanks for the help guys.” I said to the other employees that left to help Niall clean up.

I looked up and saw Tess holding out her hand to me. She was helping me up and throwing away the food that was in my hair.

“I can’t believe that just happened! Did you see the way he was looking at you?” Tess squealed, while fixing my hair to make it presentable again.

I frowned, feeling like a total buffoon. I can’t believe I let Niall see me, covered in lettuce, rice, and chicken. I was terribly embarrassed and I don’t think I can face him ever again.

“Yeah, Tess. It’s so amazing how I met Niall Horan with chicken as a wig.” I sarcastically said, brushing my hair with my fingers.

Miranda walked up to me from the bathroom with her arms crossed. She was giving me dagger eyes, glaring at me.

“What the hell was that?” She asked, keeping her voice low to not cause attention on us.

I raised an eyebrow, while brushing off the lettuce from my apron. What the hell was her problem? She’s not the one having food in inappropriate places. So, she should shut her mouth, before I do it for her.

“What are you over exaggerating about now?” I asked, making an annoyed face.

She brushed back her blonde hair away over her shoulder, while doing a high pitched scoff.

“You obviously want Niall to yourself, so you purposely let him fall on top of you! Duh! What am I stupid to you?!” She screamed.

“Do you really want me to answer this question?” I smirked.

I walked casually to my cashier counter and started fixing the crooked stack of menus in front of me.

She stood in front of me, her teeth clenched. Her fists were turning white and her face was turning bright red. It was obvious she was pissed off.

“Stay away from him! He should be going out with girls with high class and by the looks of it, you obviously aren’t.” She hissed, leaning over the counter.

I scrunched my eyebrows together in the middle, making a face at her. Usually I can put up with her stupid bullshit during work, but right now she’s pushing me over the edge. Today was not a good day and she’s making it way worse than it should be.

I stayed silent just keeping all my anger inside, just waiting to release it after work when I can freely express my feelings.

Miranda smiled to herself, delighted that I didn’t say another word. She walked over to the bathroom where Niall was getting cleaned up at, leaving me and Tess in the dining area alone.

I sighed, resting my chin on my arms. I blew a piece of hair out of my face, but it kept getting in front of my eyes. I glared at the loose piece that was beginning to irritate me. Tess giggled and put the loose hair piece behind my ear.
