Chapter 17

The sphinx looked at them then laughed a menacing laugh "how dare you point your weapons at I, the sphinx of Thebes." She lowered her body as she if she was about to pounce on them

"Sphinx of Thebes please do not harm my fellow comrades, they think you mean harm to me they only raise weapons in a need to protect me." I said back to her, Devin and Chris looked at me like I just sprouted another head, I knew why Chris looked at me that way because he didn't know I could speak in Greek. Devin on the other hand I don't know

The sphinx looked at the guys then back to me "tell them to lower their weapons." The sphinx's tail slammed onto the ground and everybody other than Chris lowered their weapons

"Lower your weapon Chris she means no harm." I said in English

He looked back at the sphinx then lowered the gun slowly; I wonder how he could see her he wasn't a blue blood, if anything just... human

"I've come back to see if you have answered my riddle, if you haven't I shall make you my dinner."

I blinked as everybody looked back at me "riddle what riddle?" I asked looking up at the sphinx with confusion

"I've made a deal with you when you were a little one around the age of eight; I gave you seven years to think of a solution. Your time is up what is your answer."

I was still confused she didn't tell me what the riddle was and I couldn't remember what it was because I was eight, but she said if I didn't have an answer she was going to kill me...well eat me. Why did I even make a deal with a sphinx in the first place? It must have been a good ass reason if I was going to lay down my life.

"Are you going to answer my riddle?" the sphinx said as she slammed her tail down again angrily, obviously she was tired of waiting on me to answer

"I don't have an answer." I said calmly "I don't even know what the riddle is."

The sphinx eyes were filled with amusement then she laughed "you don't have an answer for me... then I shall have my fill." She stalked towards me then suddenly a shot was fired, I looked at every inch of my body thinking am I shot...I sighed in relief then heard a big thud

I looked up the see the sphinx on the floor unblinking, blood rushing from her head. She was dead. I looked up at the guys they looked as shocked as I was when I noticed her dead I looked around where the bullet came from but I couldn't find the source. I looked back to the sphinx it was melting...um I don't think their supposed to melt, then after melting the sphinx turned into a permanent picture of itself on the side walk.

"That was weird." Silas said pointing his gun down

"Hell yeah it was." Alexis said then looked at me "why where you even out here with that thing?" he said putting his gun pack in its place

"I thought she needed more room since it was crowded in the hallway, she couldn't maneuver very well." I said honestly the Iason said something like 'how'd it mange to get in through the doors'

Alexis looked at me like I was the dumbest person on earth then sighed "god you're an idiot." He said bluntly then Pavlos snickered I glared at the both of them

"Well I didn't want anybody else to see it and freak out." Like I apparently did not do "plus she was crowed I was being nice."

He looked at me annoyed "you were being nice to something that was going to kill you; I bet you thought that would make your death less painful."

"I didn't know she was going to try to kill me." I tried to make him see my point of view

"Have you ever heard of a sphinx? And I'm not talking about the one in Egypt."
