It had been a few weeks since arriving on Sakaar. Loki and I had been maintaining our cover as a couple, which made the Grandmaster favor us more. I thought he was a freak. So far, some ships he owned were likely to get us off the planet, but there was a big question about which wormhole would get us back to Asgard. I just wanted to get off the planet. Part of me wanted to help save Asgard, but another part desperately wanted to see Earth again. I missed Peyton. I missed Gunner. I missed my friends. I missed my family.
Despite the blaring techno music, I heard a familiar thundering voice from across the room. Glancing over, there was Thor, but he was strapped to a chair. I sighed in relief that he was alive. For the first time since arriving on Sakaar, escaping the planet felt possible. Then I remembered the Grandmaster's champion and wondered if Thor had only survived long enough to be thrown into another fight. Loki didn't seem to notice his brother as I did. So, I discreetly moved and headed over to Thor.
"I was so worried about you," I said softly, and he smiled, happy to see me.
Thor called out to Loki, trying to get his attention. I felt a hand cover my mouth and pull me away, making me turn to see that it was the trickster himself as he shushed.
"What?" Thor remarked quietly.
"You're alive?" Loki whispered to his brother.
"Yes, of course, I'm alive."
"What are you doing here?"
"What do you mean, what am I doing? I'm stuck in this stupid chair. Where's your chair?"
"We didn't get chairs."
"Get me outta this one."
"We can't."
"Get me out. What?"
"We can't. We've made friends with this man. He's called the Grandmaster."
"For the record, he ain't on my friend list," I muttered.
"Oh, he's crazy!" Thor said.
"We've gained his favor," Loki explained. "The Bifrost brought us here weeks ago."
"Weeks ago?"
"Yes."
"I just got here."
"What are you whispering about?" The Grandmaster approached us, startling Thor. "Time works real different around these parts. On any other world, I'd be like, millions of years old. But here on Sakaar..." He gave me a flirtatious expression, which made me uncomfortable.
Pervert. I thought.
"In any case, you know this, uh..." The Grandmaster asked Loki and me, turning to Thor. "You call yourself Lord of Thunder?"
"God of Thunder," Thor corrected him. "Tell him."
I was about to say something, but Loki covered my mouth with his hand, shutting me up.
"We've never met this man in our lives," he lied.
Are you kidding me! I glared at the trickster, shoving his hand off. My jaw tightened. Part of me wanted to call him out right there. The other part remembered that Loki and I were only standing here because we'd spent weeks earning the Grandmaster's trust.
"He's my brother," Thor stated.
"Adopted," Loki clarified.
"Is he any kind of fighter?" The Grandmaster asked.
Thor chuckled. "You take this thing outta my neck, and I'll show you."
"Now, listen to that. He's threatening me. Hey, Sparkles, he's the deal. If you wanna get back to Ass-place, Assberg..."
