Casey's POV

It had been a few days since Craig showed up, and we all learned about Phil's resurrection. I was still mad at Craig for lying to us and hiding that fact, especially since he knew how much Phil meant to my friends and me.

To prevent myself from snapping the second I heard my ex calling out for me, I pulled out my headphones again and played a couple of Rob Zombie songs to block him out.

I jolted when I felt a hand tap my shoulder. Yanking off my headphones, I turned to find Peyton, Nicole, and Melanie present.

"You know what you need, Case?" Peyton pointed out.

"What?" I wondered.

"To get outta your room and join us for a night out on the town."

"Yeah, don't wanna waste your time hiding away like a recluse," Nicole nodded.

"It'll be good to get out now and then," Melanie stated.

"Sure, why not," I agreed.

I got myself ready for the night out. Since it was a warm and humid evening, I slid on a pair of denim shorts and a black tank top. After slipping on a pair of sandals, I grabbed my clutch with a strap and met with the girls. We only told Sean and Vince where we would be going, knowing Craig would prevent me from heading out.

The girls and I went out for dinner. Wanting our night out to last a little longer, we went miniature golfing. I telekinetically moved the balls, making it appear my friends and I got holes in one whenever we took turns. I was feeling a need to distract myself, which was why I was using telekinesis on the golf balls. Peyton suggested that I keep it lowkey, not wanting anyone to suspect something unusual.

We came upon a club after hearing some catchy techno songs. The bouncer allowed the girls and me in. I had a feeling that he knew who we were. We headed for the dancefloor and started dancing to the beat and rhythm.

After a few songs, I went to the side to unwind. Peyton, Nicole, and Melanie joined me. A guy with dark brown hair and brown eyes approached us.

"Hi," he turned to me.

"Hi," I nodded at him. "S'up?"

"The ceiling."

That got us laughing.

"I'm Markus," he told my friends and me.

"I'm Casey," I smiled. "These are my best friends, Peyton, Nicole, and Melanie."

"Hey there," Peyton nodded.

"How's it goin'?" Melanie smiled at Markus.

"We just found this place after coming across it," Nicole expressed.

"I just moved into the city, and my roommate dragged me here thinking I needed to socialize," Markus explained. "Between you all and me, it's his excuse to get out and party until three AM, even though he and I've got work in the morning."

"I don't blame ya," I shook my head. "My ex is like that. He'd plan something right outta the blue without even informing me or any of my friends. The last second always results in arguments."

"I take it you just got out of a bad relationship."

"Yeah. Turns out he and I have a toxic effect on each other. He thinks we're still together even though I ended it a couple of years ago."

"I'm sorry about that. I too had a girlfriend but ended it when I caught her cheating on me about a year ago."

"Ouch. I'm certain someday you'll find the right girl who totally gets you."
