The Path of the Ninja

Chapter 6

Three days after her heroic deed for Konoha, Yui entered the Ninja Academy to become a full-fledged ninja. Though at first, she was nervous because she will come face to face with other kids. Bon is with her, however, it didn't lessened her nervousness. The sakura yokai was beginning to get exasperated by her mistress's conduct. 

"Yui-sama, please pull yourself together. You can do it." Bon said reassuringly. Yui inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly before they entered the classroom. Everyone was staring at her as she and Bon took a seat on the corner. Then a long-haired blonde boy with sapphire blue eyes approached them. His name is Nakago from the Yamanaka Clan. 

"Yo! I'm Nakago. Please to meet you!" he greeted. 

"Uhm... Nice to meet you. I'm Yui and this is my friend Bon. We're new students here." Yui introduced. Then the door swung open. The teacher has entered the classroom. HIs name is Sasuke Uchiha, the head of the Uchiha Clan. The female students went wild at the sight of the handsome teacher. Then, his gaze went to Yui. Our heroine stiffened as Sasuke looks at her.

"Ohayo gozaimasu. Welcome to the Ninja Academy. I'm your homeroom teacher, Uchiha Sasuke. And it seems you're new here. What's your name?"

"Uhm... My name is Yui." she answered.

"Yui, eh? Well, that's funny. The Hokage herself recommended you to be one of my students. But rest assured, you will not receive any special treatment from me. If you fail, you fail. If you pass, you pass. Do I make myself clear?" 

"Yes, sir!" Yui answered. Sasuke smiled shrewdly, as if thinking of ways on how he can bring this girl to her knees. Also, if the Hokage recommended her, she must have a great potential to be a great ninja. 

"Everyone, listen up! Today, we'll start our lesson in making clones. As you all know, clones can provide you cover. They can also be decoys and reconnaissance if needed. We will be having a practical test today. All of you will summon a clone. I'll teach you the basic hand seals but after that, you'll have to figure it out on your own. Clear?"

"Yes, sir!" the students replied. 

"Well then, I shall meet you at the practice grounds in an hour. Good luck." Sasuke said and left the room. Yui sagged in her seat because of nervousness. She felt like crying beause she doesn't know if she's up to the challenge at hand. Bon had to whack her in the head.

"Pull yourself together, dammit! You have proven yourself to the Hokage that you're strong. Do you want them to think otherwise?!" Bon said angrily. Yui shook her head no.

"Then show me if you got what it takes to be a leader of a Hyakki Yakko! Prove to me that my loyalty is worth something!" 

Yui realized that her subordinate was right. She has to prove if she's strong enough to lead a Night Parade. 

"You're right, Bon. Yosha! Let's do this!" Yui said and grabbed her subordinate's hand and wents straight to the practice grounds where Sasuke and the rest are standing. She became nervous again though she maintained her composure. 

"All right guys, I'll show you how to summon a clone. First, concentrate and let your chakra flow freely. Next, use the hand seals. Bunshin ni Jutsu!" 

Then five or more Sasukes have appeared in the practice grounds. Yui was amazed but it didn't do a thing to lessen the pressure she felt. 

"You. You'll be the first one to try." Sasuke said while pointing his finger at Yui.

"M-Me?!" Yui exclaimed. 'Oh damn, I'm so screwed'. She nervously went up front. Every pair of eyes is now looking at her and she felt her knees buckle. But she had to do it.

"Bu-Bunshin no Jutsu!" she shouted and a dozen chibi versions of Yui appeared. Everyone was shocked.

"Eh? Why chibi clones?" Sasuke asked.

"Be-Because... because their size can be helpful during recon missions!" Yui said with a blushing face. She was so embarrassed that she hid behind a tree afterwards. Her classmates thought that she is weird because of it.

"Hmm.... that's a very logical move, Yui. And you're right. You can use chibi clones for recon and I think it uses a small amount of chakra. Well done." Sasuke said with a smile. Yui smiled back at him. She doesn't know that some of the female students are jealous of her. 

After class, Yui and Bon are having lunch when a girl with crimson hair in twintails approached her and knocked her bento. 

"Hey! What gives?" Bon shouted and faced the culprit. "Hey you! Do you have any idea how hard it is to prepare a single bento?!"

"Oh I'm sorry. I wasn't aiming for yours. I was just passing by when it fell. It's not my fault." the crimson-haired girl replied innocently.  

"Why you-" Bon started to clench her fists as if she's about to punch the girl. Yui held a restraining hand on her subordinate's shoulder. Her face looked rather serious too. Sasuke watched the scene with interest. That's when his friend, Uzumaki Naruto, arrived.

"Yo, Sasuke! What's up?" he greeted.

"Hey, Naruto. Looks like the newbie's got a rival. I'm interested in what she will do." Sasuke said while sipping tea. Naruto looked at the direction where his friend is staring at. He saw a girl with long black hair in a ponytail and a crimson-haired girl having an intense staring contest. Either girl never back down.

"Apologize to Bon now." Yui said with edge in her voice that is unfamiliar even to her.

"Why should I? It's not my fault that your friend is nothing but a-" the crimson-haired girl trailed off. She didn't get the chance to finish because Yui kicked her in the face. She landed face down and when she stared at Yui's eyes, she was clutched by unspeakable fear. There was murderous intent in her eyes that made her opponent shiver. 

"Try speaking like that in front of Bon again, that's the last mistake you'll ever make. Let's go, Bon." Yui said  and walked away. Bon trailed behind her. Sasuke and Naruto were looking at each other with gaping mouths. 

"What was that?" Naruto asked.

"I don't know. But one thing's for sure: she's no ordinary kid." Sasuke answered. Man, this feeling... I can tell that she could defeat that girl, I have no doubt. But her eyes... they weren't even eyes of an ordinary human.

Out of nowhere, Yuki was watching on the rooftop. He was surprised to see that look on Yui's face. There is something familiar with that aura she exuded.

"Could it be? Could this be the Supreme Commander I've been waiting for?" Yuki asked himself as the day went on.
