The Beginning of the Fourth Heir

The Legend Begins

Chapter 10

Yui ran to the courtyard to find the guards and her comrades fighting the enemy. But what shocked her is that the enemies are not mere humans. Instead, she found herself going against a horde of demons. She went straight on the first demon and with a quick slash of her sowrd, she cut the demon in half. She kicked ass as she tries to look for Kakashi-sensei. She found him fighting a demon and rushed in to help him.

Running while making hand seals, she casted her jutsu upon the enemy.

"Yokai no Jutsu: Kuro no Honou!!! (Yokai Jutsu: Black Flames)"

The flames engulfed the enemy. The demon screamed in pain before being slashed by Yui's sword. Even though the Wolf Guards are doing well, the enmy is still able to incapacitate them. Yui began to search for Lady Haruhi and the Hoshi no Tama. She looked around, scanning the area for the princess. She couldn't find her no matter where she looked. All of a sudden, she heard a scream. She turned around and saw Lady Haruhi being carried away by demons.

"Let me go! Let me go!" Haruhi said as she tried to get away from the demons. They cackled evilly while licking their lips.

"You know we can't do that, princess. Our leader wants to have the Hoshi no Tama and you're the only one who can tell us where it is. And he wants you to be his bride." one of the demon answered.

"The hell I would! Your master is a despicable being who deserves nothing but punishment! Because of him, my father had to leave the clan and left me all alone! Just kill me already. I'd rather die than marry someone like him." Haruhi declared. The two demons who captured her continued on laughing. One was an oni, with evil beady eyes and a mouth filled with sharp fangs. The other one was a tsuchigumo, a yokai having similarities with a spider. 

Yui became disgusted with their attitude. With the stealth of a ninja, she silently followed them and came upon an eerie-looking castle. It was filled with yokai energy that she chose not to enter on her own, lest someone attacks her and she ends up being yokai feed. So she ran back to Ookami Castle and she was shocked to see the damage the attack had caused. The guards are injured while some of them died in battle. Jun and Nakago are all wrapped in bandages. She ran straight to them.

"Jun! Nakago! Are you guys okay?" Yui asked. 

"Yup. We're fine. But I can't say the same about the guards though. They put up a good fight. Where's Lady Haruhi?" Nakago said.

"Unfortunately, Lady Haruhi is in enemy territory. She got captured along with the Hoshi no Tama. I already know where the enemy's base is." 

"What are we waiting for? Let's crash the place!" Nakago said. Instead, he earned a whack on the head courtesy of Yui.

"Baka! We can't just rush in there that easily. Do you want to be yokai dinner?!" she asked angrily. Nakago must've sensed the negative energy so he shuts his mouth.

"What should we do, Kakashi-sensei?" Jun asked. Kakashi thought this through for a while but got nothing. This is beyond his area of expertise. In fact, it's the first time that he ever encountered something like this. 

"Kakashi-sensei, I think we should send word to Yuki. He'll know what to do." Yui suggested. Nakago was surprised. Yuki wouldn't be able to help them. Unless Yui knows somehting we don't, he thought. Kakashi didn't waste time. He went straight to the Royal Falconry to get the fastest falcon. He wrote the message in an urgent tone to make sure Yuki will come in an instant. When he finished writing his message, he put it on the falcon's back and sends it on its way. Meanwhile, Yui and the others have to wait for Yuki's arrival.

While waiting, Yui was sipping green tea while thinking of a battle strategy to infiltrate the castle. So far, the guards are recovering from their injuries. She didn't notice her yokai self emerging from the shadows. 

"You know, you don't look cute when you're thinking hard." she mused.

"I don't freaking care if I'm not cute when I'm thinking hard. Lady Haruhi's life is at stake here. I can't afford any mishaps in this mission. Besides, I owe her one. She has given me glimpses of my old life. I was grateful for that. In the beginning, I know nothing about myself. But after she healed me, everything's so clear now. I'm Riyui Nura, daughter of the Second Heir. I have to save her. It's the least I can do." Yui spoke.

"Suit yourself. Just remember, this will not be easy. That castle is packed up with guards and heavy artillery. Think you can take them?" 

"You bet I can."

"That's the spirit. I'll take my leave now. See you tonight!" 

With that, her yokai self disappeared. Yui smiled but it faded when she turned around and saw Nakago staring at her peculiarly. 

"Y-Yo." Yui spoke sheepishly. Nakago greeted back also sheepishly. 

"Hey. Uhm...are you okay? You're talking to yourself a while ago." Nakago said.

"Uhm...I was having self-evaluation. That's all. How many are injured?" she asked.

"More than half of the guards are injured but they are recovering quite fast. It's almost inhuman, actually." Nakago replied. 

"That's good. Did Oikawa sent back a message?"

"Yup. He'll be here in two days." 

"Yoshii. I guess the only thing we can do is wait. Where's Kakashi-sensei and Jun?" 

"Scouting. They needed to search the perimeter for easy access to the castle. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, why are you sending for Yuki Oikawa? What can he do to help?" Nakago asked.

"What are we about to face is nothing we encounter on a regular basis. Our enemies are not like your average shinobi. I asked the guards about the castle and the answers I got was creeping me out. They say that a horrible yokai is residing at that castle, waiting for some foolish human to be its dinner. Judging by the amount of yokai energy it possess, it's enough to defeat an army. Yuki can help us battle them."

"Uhm... Nee Yui, you said you're the granddaughter of Nurarihyon. Was it true?" Nakago asked.

"I haven't accepted that truth myself. I'm still in doubt. But as much as I want to, I can't rest until Lady Haruhi is safe and sound behind the castle walls." she said to herself than to Nakago. 

"Hmm... well, I for one don't care if you're a yokai, a human, or  whatever. You're my friend. That's all that matters." Nakago said and left her in her thoughts.

After two days, Yuki Oikawa arrived with weapons and first-aid supplies. Bon also came with him as a medic.

"Yui-sama, I have arrived with weapons and medical supplies just as you've asked."

"NIce one, Yuki. Minna! I know I'm just a genin from the Hidden Leaf Village. Our mission is to protect your princess and the Hoshi no Tama. But we failed. Now we must work together to save her. Are you with me?!" 

Shouts of approval was heard.

"Saa, iku zo, temera!" she said. Yuki and Bon was amazed. Their Lady has finally started a legend for herself.
