The sky outside was blue and cloudless as the sun shone down over the city, warming everything from the cold of the night. Morning had lit up the world hours before so the streets already buzzed with the sounds of people and cars on there way to work.Inside the apartment building had stayed dark for a little long but now sunlight filtered through the blinds over the window, casting long bright stripes across the room. The mess not seen the night before was on display.
Clothes were thrown on the ground and lay in heaps, discarded in a heated moment. There was a pair of pants hanging on the end of the bed, a shirt lying on the floor and the shoes that were meant to be left at the door were scattered a meter from each other half way down the hall.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
A sound marked the time of 9:00, shown on the face of the digital clock by the clock. It was the third alarm set in the house and the last to go off. But the had been little movement till now.
The sheets crinkled as a form shifted under them, a groan emanating from the person in the bed, finally roused by the noise outside and the third alarm. Red eyes flickered open and the figure rolled to the side slapping down a hand on top of the digital clock. The beeping came to an abrupt stop.
"Ah, crap." A male voice cursed under his breath as he flopped back onto the bed. The shifted covers revealed a top-less chest and torso where little marks scattered the light skin, some bruise-like, others deep bitemark-like scares.
The man reached out a hand to feel over other side of the double bed. And he froze and sat up. Where he had expected another person, the mattress was empty and cold.
After a moment, he drew his hands through his blonde hair and over his face rubbing his eyes. His bare body was suddenly cold and aching. The male was more or less unaware of the of the pain and sting deep down in his hips and back because of the throbbing ache in his chest.
Where? Where was he?
As he got to his feet, he stubbled but he was anxious and on edge, hardly paying attention to it. He glanced around the room but found no sign that anyone had been there at all. The other clothes that had been thrown aside, the bag that had been left in the corner of the room and the second pair of shoes in the hall were all gone.
The blonde man's breathing faltered as he found the room empty of anything that had belonged to that person. The only thing left was the smell of damp earth mixed with sweet roses. An Alpha's dominating smell. But he realised quickly that even that was fainter.
And then his eyes were drawn to the side table. Under the clock lay a slip of paper folded over once with a name written on one side. His name.
He couldn't push away the lump in his throat as his stomach dropped. Slowly, he pulled the note out towards him and sat back down on the bed to stop his legs from quaking. He hesitated a moment.
He didn't want to know what was written on that card. He didn't want to know the reason his apartment was empty and why the bed was cold when it had been so warm the night before. His heart couldn't handle it but he had to.
The paper rustled in the quiet room as it was opened. And after only a few moments, droplets fell to the white paper and smudged the writing across the page. His red eyes blurred.
I never knew how to tell you this in person and I know you will never forgive me. I decided to go on the 5-year hero internship to America last month. I hope to become a better hero and protect and save people to the best of my abilities. At least that's what I believe this internship will do for me. By the time you read this I will be on the plane.
It was unmanly to do this I know but I couldn't find a way to wake you and break those words to you myself. At least we ended with last night. I will remember you everyday for the next five years and regret not telling you for the rest of my life.
I'm so sorry, Katsuki.

A/N: Hey! here we are with my SECOND kiribaku story and this time it's omegaverse. If you aren't clear on what it is look it up, I guess? It's kinda hard to explain and I'm going to forget some important detail. This story is more or less an experiment on how good it is. So, if you like this first chapter, I would appreciate it if you let me know so I know whether I should continue. 😉
