Finally, my punishment was finished. When Father called me downstairs, I was nearly panting with anticipation of leaving the building. I knelt, and he grinned at me.
"Karai. Go out-." He said. I was out by the word out, the rest of his words hanging in the air.
It was so great to be running across the rooftops again, to be jumping and flipping. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a flash a blue. Leo. I grinned. The next rooftop I jumped to had a shack of some sort. I darted behind it, and a few seconds later, Leo ran by. Smirking now, I silently ran behind him. He paused, and I took my chance. I pounced at him. To my everlasting surprise, he moved nimbly to the side, and I landed flat on my face. Smooth, Karai.
"Fail." I heard Leo murmur.
"Shut up Lameanardo." I snapped.
"Hey!" Leo said indignantly.
"You deserved that, stalking me like a creeper." I pointed out. He blushed, but still looked at me.
"Well, I gotta keep an eye out on the enemy." Leo said. I lost my breath for a second.
"Am I an enemy to you, or to your brothers?" I asked stiffly. Leo thought about for a second.
"To my brothers. I consider you more as a sparring partner or friend." Leo said kindly. Awwwwwww. He's so sweet. Ugh, stop fangirling Karai. I mentally scolded myself for a few seconds, and then I looked up to see Leo staring at me.
"See anything you like?" I asked.
"Yeah." Leo said, smirking.
"But not on you."
"You little-" I started, and then gave up. I tackled him to the ground, and punched every inch of him that I could.
"Hey! Karai! Get off of me! I was just kidding!" Leo protested, trying to block my punches.
"Take. It. Back." I growled, enunciating every word with another punch.
"I take it back! I was just messing with you." Leo conceded. I stopped punching him, most of my energy gone.
"Why?" I asked.
"That's what friends do. They tease each other." Leo said softly. Suddenly, a sharp pain hit me, almost what is close to being socked in the stomach.
"Ugh!" I groaned. Leo stared at me.
"What?" Leo asked.
"My stomach. It really hurts." I said softly. The pain intensified, and suddenly I just fell forward onto Leo's chest? Plastron?
"Karai!" Leo exclaimed.
"Leo?" I murmured. The world was turning black at the edges.
"Karai?" I heard Leo say faintly. My lips formed Leo's name, but then the world went black. My father's face filled my vision in the strange, dark murkiness that I had been wandering in.
"Karai. Listen to me carefully. I placed a drug shot in your stomach. You're probably knocked out right now. The turtle will take you to their home, and care for you. Return to me in 2 months with information. Convince them that you're on their side. Do not fail me-or you will die." He said.
And then mercifully, I faded into the blissful twilight. I hoped my situation would be better when I woke up.
