Chapter Two
"Nice To Meet You..."
Selena's Point Of View
"Everyone take your seats, quickly!"
I rolled my eyes as I dragged myself to the back of the classroom and sat down in one of the empty desks.
I was now in third period, and I already knew this would be the worst class of the day. It was Spanish class. And I had the worst teacher-of course-Mrs. Garcia.
The rumors about Mrs. Garcia's class were that she has the hardest Spanish class in this school; it was true. She gives out homework every single day, even on the weekends too, and makes us take two-at least-quizzes a week over new vocabulary words or for a big chapter test. If you fail most of the quizzes, you basically fail her class. The worst part is that she doesn't do extra credit or accept late work. You would have to go to Saturday school, or even summer school, to try and raise your grade to pass her class.
Vanessa had Mrs. Garcia in the past-sophomore year-and even she said that if she would have had the chance to change her class, she would have.
"I feel so bad for you," Vanessa's text read.
I shook my head, although she couldn't even see me. "You have no idea what I am going through right now..."
"Is she already giving you a handout for homework tonight?"
"She just handed it to me; front and back." I sent to Vanessa as I looked at the handout.
This was ridiculous.
I shouldn't be the one to complain though. I'm fluent in Spanish. I'm only taking this class to get all my credits so I can graduate this year.
But seriously? A front and back handout for homework? The second day of school?
"Now," Mrs. Garcia spoke up, making me hide my phone. "I'm going to be easy on you guys since this is only the second day of school." I raised an eyebrow in curiosity as to what she had to say. "I'll let you guys work on your homework for the rest of the period. So, get it done if you don't want homework. Waste your time by messing around, then do this for homework. Your choice."
I was shocked. "Does Mrs. Garcia let you do your homework in class?" I text Vanessa.
"What? Never in a million years would she do that. She always makes you do it for homework." Vanessa texts back quickly.
"Then believe this; she's actually giving us the rest of the period to do our homework."
As I waited for Vanessa to text back I began to work on the handout. I would have this finished in about fifteen minutes, tops.
There were two girls sitting at the desks next to me who suddenly started rambling on about something.
"I've never seen him before. Is he new here?"
"I don't know, but he's super cute. I wonder if he's single?"
"A guy like him? Come on. He has to be taken. If not, I'll be shocked."
Who were they rambling on about?
"Class," Mrs. Garcia said. "This is our new student."
He turned to the class and gave a smile and a wave; the girls next to me now are rambling on even more about him now
My eyes widened. It was the boy I had run into earlier today before school started.
"You can pick anywhere to sit." Mrs. Garcia said before she returned her attention down to her laptop.
