Chapter 26

Leo's POV

Percy and I quietly step through the house. After a few minutes I hear a "Bump!" from upstairs. I tap Percy on the shoulder and whisper, "I think they're upstairs." He nods and creeps towards a side hallway. I follow him to it, and I see a staircase. We quietly go up, wincing at every creak the floor makes. After we finally reach the top, I look around at all of the doors. Finally, I see one with a light shining under it. I step over and squat down. I look through the keyhole and see a room that might've once been a game room, but someone had pushed everything over to one wall, except for the pool table and the air hockey table. What captures my attention, though, is what is on the two tables. Or rather, WHO is on the two tables. On the pool table is Jason, and on the air hockey table is Nico. I whimper at the sight of him, getting Percy's attention. He comes over and taps me on the shoulder, so I slide over and let him look. He whimpers to, then I slide him over and look around the room. Inside are two girls. One is Hazel, and the other one is someone I don't know. The second girl pulls a gun out, and Nico, Jason, and probably me, all pale. The girl says, "Here, Hazel." Hazel suddenly looks scared. "Why me? Why can't you do it?" Hazel asked. "Do you want them dead or not?" The other girl asked impatiently. "I'm not gonna do it, Drew!" Drew gets so impatient that she points the gun at Hazel's head. "Now will you do it?" Drew asks. That's when I look at Percy and we both get the plan. We both jump up and barge into the room. Drew's and Hazel's jaws drop, but after a second, Drew shoved the gun into Hazel's hand and screams, "Hazel Levesque, you kill them right now or I will kill you!!" Hazel nods shakily, and before we can get across the room to stop her, she puts the gun to Nico's head and I scream, "NICOO!" Suddenly, there is a loud "BANG!" but Nico is not dead. Neither is Jason, Percy, or me. No, Drew is lying on the ground with a bullet wound in her face, and blood is soaking the white carpet red. Hazel stares in horror at what she did and drops the gun. Percy picks up the gun, but instead of putting it away, he points it at Hazel and screams so violently that spit flies from his mouth, "WHY DID YOU DO IT?!" Hazel starts to sob and she collapses. I catch her and lay her down gently, then I tell Percy, "You can do that later, but right now, lets get them free." I walk over to Nico and start to untie the ropes that hold him down, and Percy does the same for Jason. As soon as Nico is untied, I pull him up and start kissing him all over. He shakily wraps his arms around me, and he says, "L-Leo, I tho-th-thought she wa-was g-gonna kill me!"
