Chapter 33

Leo's POV

"I'm going to Nico's house!" I yell to my mom as I walk out the front door. I get in my truck and drive over to his house. When I get there, I stop my truck and get out. I walk up to the front door. I knock and wait for someone to answer. Finally, his mom opens the door. "Hello. I'm one of Nico's friends. Can I come in?" She looks at me and says, "You're Leo. You were the one who called me when Nico got in the hospital." Once she's said this, she walks away, leaving the door hanging wide open. Taking this as an invitation to come inside, I step over the threshold. I looked around until I saw the staircase, and closing the door behind me, I climb the steps. Once I get to the top, I look around. There are five doors. I walk over to the first one and knock. A girl's voice calls out, "Who is it?" I reply with, "Sorry. Wrong room." I walk over to the next one and knock on it to. No one replies so I open the door and poke my head in. I flip the light-switch and light floods the room. It is just a bathroom. The next room I knock on and I hear Nico's voice, "Who is it?" I just smile and open the door. I walk over to him and he rushes me with a hug. I hug him back and he smiles."Why are you here?" Nico asks me, and I say, "I wanted to make sure your mom was treating you okay." He just shrugs at this, then goes back to his bed. He sits down and then we hear footsteps outside of the room, then a girl sticks her head into the room. Seeing only us, she walks in and says "Who're you?" I glance down at Nico and shoot him a questioning look. He gives a noncommittal jerk of the head, and I translate it to mean that I can go right on ahead, so I do. "I'm Nico's boyfriend."
