Visiting Day

I woke up to see that I was in
a completely unfamiliar surrounding. It made me wonder if I had reached heaven, until the pain resurfaced around my mouth. I felt around to discover that my lip had a split on the bottom left side.

Memories resurfaced and I had a better understanding of what had happened. It seemed that I had slept so well on this bed, that it made me completely forget about what happened the previous day. I don't know who won between Edward and I...

The ceiling fan had caught my attention, highlighting my intense body heat. It didn't have the customary metal string switch that the Amity's had in their rooms. I heaved myself up out of the bed and noticed that it had a royal blue comforter and a grey wool blanket. On the sides of the bed were dark wood bedside drawers each with a silver lamp laying on it.

I sat up on the bed slightly disorientated. Besides the dark wooden closet was a brown door. I walked to the wood coloured door and opened it to see a real modernised bachelor pad. The whole space was open plan but comfortably so. There were a few certificates on the wall of achievements, but that was all. No pictures of family, nothing.

The kitchen was on the right side of the bedroom and the bathroom inside another door to the left of the bedroom. The kitchen had light grey wood cupboards both on top and underneath the countertops and I could see a lounge on the other side. Movement happened there but I was too much in awe of this beautiful flat. The visible kitchenware like the fridge and the gas kettle was all silver and the stove was black. All the walls were either shades of a creme or of grey.

I kind of loved the combinations in here.

In the living room area, there was one long dark red couch and a large black flat screen TV. There were books running along shelves that were installed against the wall. My bare feet slapped against the wooden flooring. I saw Eric reading a book with a blanket around his shoulders and his Dauntless gear off. He was shirtless. With tattoos running along his slightly haired chest. I made a shocked noise in the back of my throat.

Of course.

"You're awake. Good." I jumped at the sound his book made when it shut closed suddenly.

His eyes looked at me and a sudden tinge of pain ran along my ankle that Peter had previously fallen on.

"Why am I not in the infirmary?" I asked, scratching lightly along my face and wincing at the pain. Force of habit strikes again.

"I didn't want you to go there. It's nothing I can't handle." He murmured, standing up to his full height which intimidated me at a full head and a half taller than me.

"You barely got through that fight Mia." He continued at me as if he we're my father, grabbing my hand and peeling it away from my scabby face.

I stepped back and leaned against the counter, my head throbbing due to my emotional and physical overload. Eric looked at me carefully.

"I'm in Dauntless Eric! I'm not guaranteed success all the time." I explained frustrated while running my hands against my face and wincing again.

Eric took my hands away from my face and held my wrists in his tight grip.

"Stop doing that! We paired you with the Erudite to see what the exact level of fighter you are. He's never lost a fight against the rest of the initiates we put him up against and yet you came out of that fight equally as battered and matched as him." Eric told me running his finger gently across a bruise above my eyebrow.

I stared up at him confused. What was he trying to tell me? My hands twitched to fiddle with something, but Eric smacked them down again. He was having none of that. I gritted my teeth.
