Having a golden age of peace and prosperity didn't necessarily mean that we let our guard down. Studying something doesn't always mean that it is simply for the attainment of knowledge. Why do we study biology and chemistry? Why do we study other people or nations? Why do we study the stars? You see, in the hands of one person, the knowledge we gain from these studies can be simply fascinating and can even be of service to the greater good. But in the hands of another, it can be incredibly dangerous. Why did we study how to make bio-weapons instead of medication? Why did we put up borders to keep others out instead of tearing them down to help one another? Why did we look to the stars for a new home instead of trying to save the one we already have? After hearing the stories of our history, it is a wonder we've made it this far without destroying ourselves. But have we truly learned our lesson? After all, we did make Rasputin, an artificial intelligence capable of engaging in mass combat. And now, as I write this, I am traveling to the red planet to become part of a project to make a new kind of A.I. But what for? Is it to help our fellow human? Or is it in preparation for some unforeseen war? No matter what it is, I personally will strive to do what is right.
