*Shiro POV*

I choke back a sob as I stare at Katie, who is lifeless in my arms.

"PIDGE!!" Lance yells, the tears pouring down his face. Hunk is sobbing and Keith is silent.

"Throw her body into space." Lotor snaps, but there's a hint of guilt in his voice. Soldiers start to walk towards me but I growl at them, the tears falling down my cheeks.

I hold Katie close to my chest as the soldiers crowd me,
"Get away from her!" I snarl, my voice cracking due to tears, but they all leap at me and take Pidge off me no matter how much I struggle.

"Katie!!" I yell as three soldiers grab me and pin me down. One soldier lifts Katie and walks off with her. I let the tears fall down my cheeks and I stop fighting. The soldiers let me go, cuffing my wrists again.

Lotor walks to me and crouches down in front me, a smug grin on his face. Like he done with Katie, he puts a finger under my chin and tilts my head up too meet his eyes. The tears pour down my face and I bare ny teeth to him, growling.

Lotor just laughs and reaches down. I flinch when he brings his mouth to my ear, his warm breath tickling my skin,
"Not so strong now that I've taken all you had to live for, huh Shiro?" He snickers evilly. I growl at him, my tears not stopping,
"I'll kill you." I snarl,
"Why? To 'avenge' her? Well, it's not like she's gonna care. She's dead, Shiro. You know that..." Lotor smirks.

"You let her die."

Those words echo in my head. Something in me snaps. I shake my head,
"N-no-" I sniff,
"Yes, Shiro. You let me kill her. I hope you're proud of yourself. Heh. You think you're a hero? You can't even protect the people you care about the most. I killed your precious little Pidge, and now I'm going to kill the rest of them. And the best part is, you get to watch and hear their screams." Lotor grins.

He let's go of my chin and my head hangs low, my tears spilling onto my lap.

I hear Lotor chuckle as he stands,
"Pathetic." He spits as he walks away.
"I'm finished with them for the day. Make sure they don't escape." He smiles, leaving the room.

For the next ten minutes or so, all that can be heard is sobs.
"I'm so sorry, Katie..." I whisper as I grit my teeth, the tears falling from my eyes.
"...don't listen to Lotor." Keith says, his voice shaky,
"You didn't do anything, Shiro." Lance states, sniffing.

I scoff,
"Exactly. I didn't do anything. I-I watched him take her. I let him shoot her...I...I let her die..." I say, my voice hoarse.
"It wasn't your fault, man." Hunk sniffles,
"You can't save everyone, Shiro..." Keith frowns.

"Yeah...but I atleast thought I could save her...she was everything, guys, and I...I couldn't save her." I tremble. There's a silence,
"Lotor was right...I'm pathetic..." I frown, more tears sliding down my face.

I hear Lance growl,
"No!!" He snaps, snapping his head in my direction,
"Don't listen to Lotor! What the hell would he know!? He's trying to get under your fucking skin, Shiro! And you're fucking letting him! Now stop feeling sorry for yourself and just shut the fuck up and think!!" Lance yells.

I fall silent, and Keith and Hunk are staring at Lance in surprise. Lance sighs, his shoulders slumping,
"I-I didn't mean to shout...it's just...Pidge mattered to all of us. She was like a sister to me, Shiro. I loved her. I just...I miss her." Lance frowns, his voice trembling.

He starts to silently cry, his knees pulled up to his chest. I feel more guilt wash over me and I sigh.
"I'm sorry, Lance...I didn't know she meant that much to you..." I frown. Lance shakes his head,
"It's alright. No-one knew. Heck Pidge didn't even know. I'm just...pissed at myself...because I never got around to telling her that..." He sniffs.

After taking a deep breath a determined looks creeps onto my face,
"We're getting out of here." I growl,
"Hell yeah we are!" Lance states,
"N-not to be the negative voice here, but, uh, how, how do you plan on doing that, exactly?" Hunk asks.

My brows knit in though, then I grin,
"Well...I think I have an idea..."

~Time skip~

"Go go go!" I yell as we run down a corridor,
"Find the lions!" Keith states. We run down several corridors and, at last, we stumble across the room containing the lions.
"Get to your lions!" I order, running to the Black Lion. I hop in and the control room lights up. I smile at little,
"Let's go." I smirk.

~Time skip~

"WOOHOO!! SUCK IT, LOTOR!" Lance grins as we fly out of the ship. We start to attack it, hitting with with everything we've got.
"SHIRO!!" I hear Hunk yell,
"What!?" I question,
"Is that-is that Pidge?" Hunk asks. My eyes widen and I look around Space until my eyes land on something.

I fly towards it and my eyes widen,
"It's her! Good eyes, Hunk!" I state, opening the mouth of the Black Lion and getting Pidge. I race to the mouth of the lion and see Pidge lying there, frozen over. I rush to her, but I know it's too late. The tears prick my eyes again.

At least we can bury her now...

I sniff,
"Let's go home." I say over the comm,
"B-but Lotor-" Lance begins,
"Leave him. Let's just get back." I order. Everyone falls silent as we head back to the castle.

~Time skip~

It's been a week since we escaped, and  I've barely left my room. Sometimes I train to try and take my mind off things, but I always end up in tears.

I sit at the edge of my bed, the tears falling down my face. Suddenly my door opens and Lance walks in. He frowns when he sees me and I quickly dry my eyes,
"H-hey Lance. Do you want something?" I ask, looking at the floor,
"I want to know how you're doing. You've barely left your room, and I wake up in the middle of the night because you're screaming. Wanna talk about it?" Lance asks.

I smile a little and shake my head,
"There's nothing to talk about. I'm fine." I smirk, rubbing the back of my neck. Lance folds his arms and raises an eyebrow, his expression serious. My smirk falters and I sigh,
"I don't know what to do without her, Lance." I frown.

Lance smiles a little and sits beside me on the bed,
"Y'know, Pidge wouldn't want this." He states. I raise an eyebrow at him,
"Wouldn't want what?" I question,
"She wouldn't want you crying over her. She wouldn't want you blaming yourself. She'd want to you smile when you think about her, and she'd want you to remember all the good times you had. She...she'd want you to move on." Lance says.

"Move on? Lance you don't understand, I-" I begin,
"I do understand...listen, I-...along time ago, I had a girlfriend. Her name was Rose. She was smart and funny and beautiful and...and she died from Cancer. I cried over her for weeks, but, in the end, I knew she wouldn't want that. She knew she was dying for awhile before she actually did, and I knew too, so she told me to move on, find someone new and be happy. And...I never thought I could do that. I thought we were going to get married and have kids, but...in the end, I met Allura, and now...I know Rose would want me to be with her. And everytime I think about her, I smile, and I know she's smiling back, somewhere." Lance smiles, his eyes glassy.

I'm a little shocked before I feel a wave of sympathy for Lance,
"Lance I...I'm sorry...I didn't know...that must have been hard..." I frown,
"It was, but the same thing happened with you and Adam. Then you met Pidge. You fell in love again, despite losing Adam. And you can do that again, Shiro. I know it's hard, I know it sounds impossible, but Katie would have wanted you too." Lance smirks, resting hand on my shoulder.

I smile at him and nod.
"You're right. Thank you, Lance." I beam,
"Anytime Shiro, now, I'm gonna go see how Allura's doing. See you later, okay?" Lance grins, standing up,
"See you." I smile. Lance walks out of my room, looking rather proud of himself.

I sigh and fall back onto my bed. I smile up at the ceiling,
"I know you're watching me, Katie. Lance is right. I love you with all my heart, and it might take years to get over you, or I might never, but I'll never ever forget you. One day, I'll find happiness again. For you, and for me. And if I don't...I can't wait to see you again...I love you, Katie Holt, now and forever." I smirk.
