Lara looked around the room, she couldn't help but question what right she had to ask these people to fight beside her, against something she didn't even understand herself. They hardly knew her. Why were they willing to lay down their life for her? She found it hard to fathom. Their loyalty to Lyon was beyond question. But to her?

"I know what you're thinking." Lara was surprised when Alexis came and sat beside her on the floor. "This sorry group owe our lives to you. Our Kingdom would be destroyed if it wasn't for the White Swan." Lara was at a loss. How did Alexis know? Was she that transparent?

"I don't think there would be anyone throughout Arlentora by now, who isn't aware of your bravery and how you saved King Lyon. Your marriage isn't just between you and our king. You're Arlentora's Queen as well. And these people in this room are prepared to bestow their devotion, by ensuring you make it through this alive and in one piece.

"We expect a wedding, with the traditional vows and all the glory, not to mention the full five days of celebration." As she mentioned the bridal ceremony, Alexis winked at Lyon, who was sitting on Lara's other side, happily eavesdropping and smiling approvingly.

"What about you? Who's going to be looking after you?" Lara twisted around to face Lyon, placing her hand on his arms. "I still have no idea what these Deathbrones will do to you. I don't want you to suffer or worse, die just because of me. There hasn't been the time for anyone to show me what I have to do to fight these monsters."

"Don't worry. Now that I know what's in stall for me, I have a few tricks up my sleeve. There's no way a few nightmares are going to stop this wedding from taking place."

Lara couldn't prevent the thought racing through her mind. Maybe not the nightmares but what about the 'Elemental Destroyer?'

                                                                                     *****

Listening to Greno speak was pure poetry to the senses, on the few occasions Lara was honoured with his teachings.

"The entire Lifeforce is all about vibration. You are a multidimensional, vibrational being. By closing your eyes and looking within, you are able to experience the ocean of infinite waves surging, the river of inner sensations flowing, the eternal dance of the countless vibrations travelling through your body. As you understand this reality, you will also start to experience how your consciousness- perception, sensation and reaction- transcends to a higher level, allowing you to ascend beyond all realms of the imagination, and enter the dimensional world of the Lifeforce."

"You have only two days to go. Lara? Greno...?  Hello? I'm sorry... Is my teaching interrupting your talking?"

Greno stopped talking and both Greno and Lara, turned in synch to look at Ennar.

"Now that I have your attention, MOVE IT, or do I need to spell out your training schedule?

As the two jumped into the first arena, Lara heard Greno say under his breath, 'People that shine from within don't need the spotlight.'

Lara suddenly heard Ennar, in her mind. 'Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until they speak.'

From the look on Greno's face, he took Ennar's words as a challenge and would have happily responded in like, if Lara hadn't taken the initiative and spun her wooded staff above her head before striking at his left shoulder. Which he easily deflected.

"Jedizi-Tylet " Since the initial gathering of the team, Lara had been working nonstop for hours on end, tirelessly learning how to control the Lifeforce and speak its language. Immediately her staff became a thick rope, wrapping itself, tightly, around Greno from his chest to his knees. With a smile, his playful eyes twinkling, he disappeared. The rope falling limply to the ground. She knew Greno had used the Lifeforce to alter the vibration of his molecular structure. Vibrating so fast that he phased into another dimension.

Two could play at that game.

"Jedizi-Vidim" It took a bit of getting used to as everything around her was in slow motion, almost coming to a stop, while she was stil  moving at her normal pace.

"Well done." Turning around, she found Greno waiting for her. He looked impressed.

If the two of you are done playing, I would appreciate if you returned now. Threlu and King Lyon have just arrived, and I think you need to hear this. Ennars voice inside Lara's head, even to her, sounded more serious than normal. Greno just nodded, instructing her to return.

As they suddenly appeared in the room, the shock on Lyon's face was comical.

Under different circumstances, she would have enjoyed showing off some of her other Lifeforce skills, but something about the way Threlu and Lyon were looking at each other, told her this was definitely not the moment.

"I have just returned from the Zanaltra Council." Threlu paused. His white beard vibrating slightly. It looked to her like he was actually shaking. Looking directly at Lara. He wiped his brow and shook his head slightly, before continuing. "They have consented to allowing all eight of you to face the trial. But it comes at a great cost. Their price........?" Threlu had difficulty saying the words.

He was making Lara feel nervous.

What more could they ask of them than they already have?
