Dale POV

I overheard screaming where Mariah and I left. We lost sight of the mysterious guy throughout our chase, Mariah is nowhere to be found! I'm okay, just need to exhale Dale, everything is alright, nothing but darkness creeping into me until I get engulfed into the world of emptiness. Heh. What's wrong with me?

Then, the mysterious guy's voice echoed this place, promptly getting my act collectively following his voice within this deep continuous labyrinth of lies. "Don't touch her!" I detected his voice sounding familiar someplace, Mariah was already there staring, shocked. "Who the hell are you?" The man roared letting go Aubree with a grimace.

"I'm here to save the girl!" he answered confidently.

Who is this guy? I glance at Mariah who seems to be pale for whatever reason. Aubree looks happy that the mysterious guy is saving her instead of us. He throws a strong punch at the culprit and then gives another punch that makes him faint. "Let's get out of here!"

I didn't know what was going on however we followed him before the culprit became conscious again. He led us to the nurse's room so we could rest. We didn't communicate with each other rather giving a moment to catch our breaths first.

"What were you guys thinking?" he sighed softly before giving an unpleasant expression. I wanted to say something but nothing came out of my mouth. Mariah stares tensely at him, not even blinking for a second or two.

"We're trying to solve this case!" The guy flinched from Mariah's angry outburst. "Solve...to prevent anyone else from being sexually harassed! Ayano Pearson is already in the state of dying because of this crazy man out there!"

Aubree was too shocked to say anything; I can't say anything since it's true. "Our friend Rowina is held hostage by some freak!" she continued frustratedly in tears.

Mariah walks away from us crying, I'm so mad that I can't do anything about it but watch her. The mysterious guy hugs Mariah and comforts her. I blacked out, dizzy, and panicked. Everything was blurry and dark.

"What're you doing?" Mariah hissed at him backing off with a frowned expression. "Comforting. What does it look like?" he answered warmly, removing his mask and pulling his hood down.

Mariah and Aubree's jaws dropped with surprise, he looked so young and a familiar guy. "I know you must be upset about my disappearance and everything we did together back then... it's not easy for me."

She punched him angrily and stared at the wall tearing up more. He was in pain but continued to speak, "Mariah, you're my best friend, I missed you so much... I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Please understand my situation it is horrible."

"You... freaking went poof out of nowhere! How do you expect me to understand what you're going through when you know never answered my calls?!" Mariah screamed with anger showing more apparent. "I was trying to call you! Guess what? My phone has never been touched until last month!"

Aubree stood between them, "Hey! Tell us who you are! What is your purpose of being here, huh?" she glared with bitterness, making the guy turn to her. "Jay. I'm here to solve the case but you guys are already finishing my job so, less work for me."

I crossed my arms giving a cold expression, the guy was Jay who Mariah was close to, and I was one second from punching this guy. "After all this time, you appear now?" Mariah laughs sarcastically changing into a frown.
