Third POV

"Up and at em!" Maya shouted as she banged two pans together in attempts to wake up her girl friend. "Its a new day my love!"

Riley groaned grabbing a pillow and covered her head. "Dad!" She yelled. "Make her stop!"

Maya continued to bang the pans closer to the purple pillow that covered Riley's face. Corey emerged in the door way and shouted over the banging. "Sorry kid! I tried everything to get you up! This was my finally option!" Corey grinned giving Maya a thumbs up before leaving the room.

"I'm up, I'm up! Quit with the lousy noise!" Riley yelled in frustration.

Maya tossed the pans on the floor and jumped on the bed grinning widely, while girl friend scowled back at her.

"You think your so funny" Riley muttered.

"Yes I do" Maya replied as she softly kissed Riley's forehead. "Why are you so tired? You practically never sleep in" she laughed.

Riley brought her self closer to her joyful girl friend, wanting comfort. Instantly Maya knew something was wrong. Her bright morning mood turned into concern. She wrapped her arms around Riley running her hand through her soft hair.

"Sunshine what's wrong?" The blond asked softly.

Riley groaned feeling dreadful as she knew she would have to talk about it. She inhaled the smell of Maya's laundry detergent that stuck to her Black sweatshirt. "I got a text from an unknown number last night" Riley hesitated for a split second dreading having to continue to explain. "They said to watch out tomorrow. I think its from one of those girl."

Maya protectively wrapped her arms around Riley. The blond knew trouble was on its way for those girls. It angered her that someone would do something to such a pure and kind soul like Riley. She took her hand in mine to comfort her. "Hey if anyone is going to try and hurt you, they'll have to go through me first. Alright babe? I'll make sure you will be safe."

Riley sank in her embrace. "Your a really sweet girl friend. You know that right?" She muttered.

"Yeah yeah" she laughed letting go of her. "As much as I'd love to stay here and hold you all day, we have to get ready for school."

MAYAS POV

I sat at the kitchen table waiting for Riley. August sat across from me with syrup smeared all over his face from his pancakes, while Topanga made everyone's lunch.

"Maya do you want me to make you lunch today?" She asked.

"It's fine Mrs. Mathews my mom made me one."

"That's good" she said still packing the lunches. You could hear the slight smile she held in on face and the relief in her tone. "Could you keep an eye on Riley today? She's been a little more off since last night. I want to make sure she's still eating."

I reassured her. "Of course. I always keep an eye on her."

Riley tiredly walk out of her room. You could see how much she was dreading the day ahead of her. "Morning guys."

"Honey did you get any sleep last night?" Topanga sitting at the kitchen table.

Riley joined us bringing her knees up to her chest. "Not really" she mumbled.

I rubbed her back in hopes of comforting her. She brought herself closer towards me resting her head on my shoulder. Topanga gave me a sad smile, which I returned. "Well that's okay. We can give you an energy drink on your way to school" I laughed. "That'll wake you up."

Riley picked her head up looking at me a slight excitement. "Really? I'v never had one before."

Topanga chuckled. "Riley you bounce off the walls after having juice, you are not having an energy drink!"

Riley groaned dramatically putting her head between her knees.

"Come on you should eat" I tried to encourage her getting up to grab some clerical. "No milk like always right?"

Riley muttered a barley inaudible "I'm not hungry this morning."

Topanga got up and made her way over towards me looking at me with the same concerned look. "Just let it slide for right now. It'll just make her more upset, but absolutely make sure she eats all her lunch" she whispered.

I nodded and gave Topanga a sad smile before she rushed August out of the kitchen to get ready for school. I placed the Fruit Loops back in the cabinet and opted for a good plain cereal bar for myself instead. I returned back to my spot next to Riley, who still sat in the same silent position. The kitchen was silent with only with sounds of the rushing city from outside the apartment. I I went back to rubbing Riley's back with one hand while eating my bar in the other.

"Better get going girls" Topanga turned around sliding the paper lunch bags towards us. "Don't want to be late."

"Come on Riles" I soft said.

Riley silently untucked her head and brought her feet back to the floor. We both shoved them in our backpacks and headed towards the door.

"See you after school!" Topanga shouted with cheerfulness.

"Bye!" I waved opening the door.

"Bye mom" Riley replied softly.

Silence filled the air between us as we made our way out the apartment building. I opened the door for the sad girl behind me earning a small thank you from her. I grabbed her hand held it tightly as we made our way down the street. The brightly colored leaves fell to the ground from the trees around us. Buildings displayed spooky Halloween decorations on their lawns and windows. Almost every building had freshly carved pumpkins sitting out just waiting to be lit during the night.

"Lets just ditch school" Riley looked at me with dread.

I softly smiled. "As much as I would that Riles we would get caught by your dad."

"Who cares" she shrugged looking back down. "It'd be worth it."

I sighed as I saw her head hang low with her shoulders slightly hunched in. It had been awhile since Riley had been like this, and it pained me to see her in this state. "I promise that if anything happens to you today I will protect you. I'll walk you from class to class if you want."

"That's a good idea" she softly spoke. Though it was subtle you could hear the relief in her voice.

I squeezed her hand and smiled. "Good, cause I'd much rather miss five minuets of class."

"Of course" Riley chuckled.
