Lunch ended on a good note. I learned a lot about Falen and a few things about myself. I was able to clear my head for a while and really enjoy myself. Once my nervousness went away, I found that she was incredibly easy to talk to. She could be serious and thoughtful one minute then funny and carefree the next. I liked her enough to mention a second date, hopefully in a more intimate setting. There was a noticeable difference between the start of our date and now as she walked me back to my apartment.

“I had a really good time with you, Devyn.”

“So did I. You’re kinda cool.” We shared a laugh but the sexual tension was so thick. She wanted me and I wanted her to have me. She came closer, pushed me up against the door, and kissed me deeply. Her hand went down and slowly caressed its way up my thigh. I let out a soft moan, reaching down to lead her hand higher. I was going to let her do whatever she wanted to me… until I heard Ivy unlock the door behind me. We quickly separated as she yanked the door open.

“Heyyy! Back so soon?” I turned to Falen and kissed her cheek.

“I’ll call you later okay?”

“Cool.” She walked away and I pushed Ivy back inside, closing the door behind me.

“Damn, way to ruin a moment.” I said, showing my annoyance.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Right, because you weren’t standing at the door eavesdropping.” I walked past her to my room to change. She was hot on my tail.

“Sooo… I’m assuming things went really well.”

“They did.” I said as I pulled a long tee over my head.

“…and?”

“There would be a lot more to tell if a certain little sister wasn’t waiting at the door for her big sister to get home.”

“Gotcha, that was my bad. But how about the date? Did you have fun?” I sat on the bed and crossed my legs, then Ivy did the same.

“I did, I didn’t know what to expect in the beginning but Falen's really sweet. I honestly think we could go somewhere with this.”

“I remember you said the same thing about Nikki.” I sighed, shuddering at the memory of being with her.

“Enough about her, okay? Of course I thought we’d last forever. But I’ve grown since then and I have a better, clearer idea of what I’m looking for now.”

“I’m happy for you, Dev. I actually like Falen, she has a way with words. She’s sexy too, it’s not hard to see why you’re so into her.” I bit my lip at the thought of us together, months from now. Suddenly, my phone vibrated. I picked it up, expecting another sweet text from Falen. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

QP wanted to know if you could hook him up with a meeting with your boss. He has a proposition for him.”

I can’t do that Janay. If something goes wrong, it’ll be all on me.

I promise to keep tabs on him. Please, Dev.”

I’m sorry. Whatever it is y’all are up to, keep my name out of it.” I started to worry again. But why was I so worried if Janay wasn’t? I wondered what she saw in QP. I looked up at my sister and wondered what she saw in him. If he could flip Janay's life upside down in an instant, what could he do to Ivy? My warnings weren’t enough to keep neither of them away from him though.

“Devyn, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing, just thinking.”

“I know that look and I have just what you need.” She rushed out and came back minutes later with a blunt in her hand.

“I don’t need to smoke, Ivy.” Ignoring my protests, she fired it up. After taking three or so hits, she passed it to me. I inhaled a few times and I was good to go. I told her she could finish the rest of it and got up to go to the bathroom. I was nice and lifted but it wasn’t enough to make my worries go away. The last time I saw Ducati, he was about ready to kill his own nephew. Now Janay wants me to set up a business meeting between two ex-cons when just yesterday she didn’t even want me working there. You’re on your own with this one, J. I needed to rest up for my shift tonight so I got back in bed for some much needed sleep.
