Hours later, I was in the bathroom freshening up for the club when I heard my phone ringing in the bedroom. Narrowly missing the call, I picked it up and could damn near feel the excitement from the person on the other end.

“Heyyy sis!”

“Hey Ivy, what’s up?” I was curious as to why she was so happy.

“You will not believe where I am right now.”

“Where?”

“I’m at Hartsfield! I was pretty sad that you missed my graduation so I bought a plane ticket with some of the money you sent.” My little sister, Ivy, and I have always been close. Our parents separated when I was a senior and Ivy was a freshman. My mom moved back home to Houston, taking my sister with her, but we’ve always made sure to keep our bond strong.

“Why is this the first I’m hearing about it?”

“Wow, you sound so excited.” That statement reeked of sarcasm.

“Of course I’m excited, just surprised. Where are you? Do you need me to pick you up?”

“Nah I caught an Uber. I’m headed to your spot now.”

“So you got everything figured out then?” I slid my feet into some slides and threw on a light jacket, grabbing my duffle by the door.

“Just about, but I’m starving. All I had to eat were some in-flight peanuts.”

“Well, I’d love to be here for your arrival but I have to be at work soon. Do you think you can let yourself in?”

“I got it, and don’t worry. I won’t completely trash the place.” I rolled my eyes as I stepped into the elevator, riding it down to the garage and saying my goodbyes.

“Okay, I’ll text you the code to get in. Please make sure you lock up tonight.” I said, getting into my car. As I hung up, I suddenly remembered Falen's invitation so I shot her a quick text before leaving.

Hey it’s Devyn. Can’t do dinner tonight. Lunch tomorrow?” Within seconds she replied.

Thought you forgot about me. Lunch is perfect. I’ll sort out the details and call you in the am ;)” With that out of the way, I made my way to the club.
