Link's Perspective:

I couldn't decide whether or not to be awed at Zelda's new-found power or angry that she was so obviously teasing me. Undressing in front of me? Flirting with me? Even in a seemingly-remote place, who knew what lurked just beyond the tree's shadows? Maybe I was being paranoid.

Zelda tossed her hair over a shoulder and grinned sheepishly at me. She gestured at the water, as if implying I should hurry up. I didn't know why I agreed, in all honestly. Maybe it was because she was too gorgeous to say no to, especially when she was half-naked.

I stole glances at her as I tugged at my blue guard's shirt. It made me anxious since I knew what she looked like under the bindings and underwear. I couldn't help but remember the perfect curvature of breasts and how they rose up on her stomach as the moonlight glowed on her that night. I could almost see how the bindings affected her chest, forcing them down but still showing off their gentle slope downwards, no matter how modest she attempted to be. Could I convince her to take it off or—?

"Hurry up!" She accentuated each word with a clap and pouted at me dramatically. "I'm frying over here!" She lazed an arm across her forehead and groaned loudly. "It's hot!"

"Alright, alright," I conceded. I finally pulled off my blue shirt, which I had been holding in my hand. I yanked it over my head and the sun beat against my bare skin. I understood what she meant; I felt like I was being cooked alive. I pulled off my boots, socks, and trousers, suddenly anxious to swim in the water, as well.

When I turned around, I remembered how I must've appeared. Zelda's green eyes crawled across my body, focusing on my torso and then on my tightly-fit underwear. "Nice tighty-whities," she chuckled, pretending as if she wasn't blushing.

"Hey, I didn't comment on your odd choice of underclothes," I responded, glaring at her mockingly. She scrunched her nose at me, sliding herself to the edge of the shore and easing herself into the water. "What's with the bindings, anyways? Not only do you not need it, there are most effective clothes for... breast support."

"Oh? And how do you know about breast support?" She asked, shivering a bit as the water lapped at her stomach they led up to her rib cage. "Do you need bindings, too, for your boobs?"

"Rude!" I protested, sitting on the edge as she finally slipped into the water. She grinned and smiled, dipping her hair so it stuck to the back of her neck.

"You wanna see rude?" She asked. I opened my mouth to protest but was cut off by the sudden wave she splashed at me. I managed to shut my mouth before the lukewarm water drenched me. "That, my lovely friend, was rude!"

"Oh, it's on!" I laughed. I stood up, the bare rock scorching the bottom of my feet, the water dripping down my legs. She realized what I planned to do and had no time to prepare as I cannonballed next to her, a giant wave of water drenching her. When I floated to the surface, she was laughing and smiling at me evilly, waving her hands erratically and splashing me.

"Cease fire, cease fire!" I cried, covering my eyes with my forearm and using my other hand to splash water back at her. She laughed loudly, jumping in her spot as she continued her assault. I grinned to myself, smirking as I dove under the water, swimming for her legs and shoving my head between them so, when I caught my footing and stood up, she was on my shoulders.

"Hey, no fair!" she insisted. I ignored her and leaned forward, jerking my shoulders, so she fell forward toppling into the water. I caught her feet as she fell and, after she managed to dunk herself in the water, reeled her back into my arms. She pouted at me as I held her in my arms, shoulders hunched forward and an exaggerated frown on her face.

"I think I win," I said, grinning. She puckered her lips slightly and I beamed innocently, ready for her cry of mercy. Instead, her lips puckered more and a warm stream of water spewed from her mouth and hit me square on the nose, dribbling down my face.

"Mercy," she said innocently after she spat out the last drops of lake water. My mind began to wander and, even though she literally just spat water into my face, she looked unfairly gorgeous. Maybe it was the way that the water, still dripping down her skin, sparkled and made her glow. Her cheeks were pink, too, from excretion, flushing across her entire face. Or maybe it was how her dark hair, now looking darker from the water, fell around her face in strands and framed her bright green eyes.

She must've been lost in thought too, staring at me, because she didn't comment on my awkward silence. It didn't feel awkward, though. Our heads pressed closer to each other and my heart leapt from my chest hoping, praying, she would press her lips to mine. Maybe this time we wouldn't get interrupted. I wouldn't mind standing here, the waves lapping at our bodies, as we held each other and shared an intimate kiss under the scorching sun.

Her arm, still wrapped around my neck, wandered, pulling through my hair softly, almost subconsciously. Her fingers danced across my cheekbone down to my chin. She leaned forward closer and my grip on her body tightened.

She pressed her lips to my cheek then leaned her head on my shoulder. Maybe it was naive to believe we could've kissed.

And maybe I was naive to believe we could have any serious relationship at all.

(I was looking at the Hyrule Map and... it turns out I'm so dumb. Hateno Village is south of Vah Ruta, which means that Link and Zelda have to go to Vah Ruta, go south again, then go way north. So, let's just ignore my stupidity and pretend that Hateno Village is between Vah Ruta and Death Mountain.)
