Chapter One
(Josephine)
I can hear my heart thumping inside my chest as we go. Hearing the blood rushing through my veins, and it's making me anxious, in a good way, I might say. The driver, also known as Roger, drive me off of the busy road in this early morning. He said that he would take me on a mini-tour around the university on the way to my building, where I'm going to stay for the first semester.
When we entered the university, he starts talking about it, when we passed by the Botanic Garden, I think that was it called. Seeing lots of different kinds of plants and flowers inside for students are studying for Biology. We passed by students who are jogging around to keep themselves healthy, which I would love to do whenever I have the time.
He said that tourists came by here to see the amazing structures of chapels around here, they'll take pictures and sometimes go on a boat ride at the River Cam.
When the cab stops right in front of the building, the tour ends here. I paid first before I hop out, as he helped me take out my luggage from the trunk.
"Enjoy your stay here, madam. See you around." He beams, and I smile back at him as he drove off to exit the university. He was nice. Guess that I just made my first friend here.
I stared at the huge building in front of me to see a few lights are on other floors. I breathe in as I clutch my bag on my shoulders, rolling myself in the building. I go first to somewhere that I can get my card keys for my dorm room, and I'm on my way to my room.
The university is huge, really tremendous only by having a few minutes tour, and I'm now in King's College, which I chose. In Keynes Building, where I'll be staying for my first year. They have a bar, a common room for students can socialize, and a cafeteria that we're going to eat our daily meals every day. Where I'll be staying is where all first-year are also in, and good thing that I'll be living by a first-year also next door.
When I got into the second floor, opening up the door to see my small room, but the good thing is that I don't have a roommate to share with. Closing the door behind me, as I walk into the small room, the bed and nightstand by the corner of the bedroom, the bed only has the mattress, another good thing that my mother courage me to bring my own bedding. A small brown armchair at the end of the bed. Tiny window that only can see some pipes that making noises and windows of another building. A desk for me to do my studies. I also got a mini-fridge that I'll be storing when I'm done unpacking. A huge wardrobe, and the best part of it that I have an own bathroom, so no struggles by walking down the hall to take a shower at the other end by early morning.
I plop myself on my small bed as I deeply sighed. Thinking about what I'm going to do. The first thought came to my mind is to unpack everything, and after I'll buy myself some foods to store in my mini-fridge, also I needed to go to the mail to get my box filled with my stuff, which I don't know yet where is the place, and I will going to find it out later.
While unpacking everything and making my own bed first. I heard a knock on the door, which confuses me. I walk, stumbling by the mess that I had made. I opened the door to see a blonde hair with matching blue eyes girl in view, smiling at me. I smile, creaking the door not too wide, so she can't see the mess in here.
"Hey, I'm Joey Kurtz," She introduces herself, letting out her hand for me to shake, and I did and smile. "I'm a first-year here, too, and that Harriet told me that she would be showing us around the university at eight o'clock," She explains, still smiling. "See you later. I'll knock again to let you know," She beams.
"Okay, thank you. I'm Josephine, by the way," I smiled, as she smiles at me, turning on her heel to go back to her room. I watched her walk to her room, so I can know where she's staying. She closes the door just four doors down from mine.
