Chapter Six

(Hero)

A terrible Sunday night for me. As always. There's an event we have to go at as a family. A royal fucking family. A shitty thing to do for tonight. I got forced by joining this charity ball. My mother knows every plan I have everyday. That's why she forced me to come here.

I should be at Ballare, doing what I always do during weekends, or even on weeknights which is often than it should. I may have got a few cuts, but it doesn't bother me anyway. I already have those since I was little, the scars have had been made already. I don't care what people think of me when they see those, they don't know me. I'll take their criticism about me, but I won't respond.

Everyone was ready for tonight, got all dressed up and hopped in the rover, joining in with my sibling. I rather go alone, than be sitting here with my sister for minutes until we arrived at the venue. I rather ride my motorbike than sit here, but they wouldn't let me.

I didn't pay attention much this night. People keep talking, I don't listen. People wants to talk to me, I walk away. And when I get forced to one, I'll just excuse myself and never come back. I'm just standing on the corner, leaning on the table with a glass of champagne as I watch everyone interact.

"Enjoying yourself, brother?" I glance to my left, see my step-brother walking towards my way.

Great. Once my peaceful shitty observing is not so peaceful anymore.

"What do you want?" I gulped down the last remaining of champagne.

He was gone for months, and just came back after a worldwide trip with the Duchess, and him being the Duke he is. Douchebag.

"And just to remind you again, do not call me your brother. Because I am not your brother." I pointed out.

Jonathan breathes. "Will you calm your nerves down? We're in a event, an important event—"

I slammed the glass down on the table, nearly breaking it and begin to fum the words out of my mouth. "I don't care how much important it is. I don't care if it's important for you, to mum, or to any of these stuck-up assholes. So, just shut up and leave me alone."

"Hero," I hear my mother's sweet and calm voice coming to approach us. Must have noticed the fire igniting inside me, fire of anger.

Her hand rubs my shoulder blade to calm me down, but it only makes it worse. It's fueling me even more. Behind her, my sister follows with a frown.

"Great, the Duchess of Cambridge saves the day." I mutter.

"Could you please throw that attitude away for tonight. We're in a room full of important people." I rolled my eyes, getting frustrated of them all over again. How did I even survived with these people around me?

I breathe, deeply. "Yeah, that is not gonna happen, mother." I told her. She shoots me her look, but I could careless. It does not affect me anymore. I'm not that little kid from before.

"You should listen to her," Jonathan speaks up.

"Look, I don't care anything that comes out of your mouth, douche Duke." I snapped, and glared at him.

"Hero, stop it." Madison mumbles behind me.

"And you," I turn, facing my little sister. "Naive, sweet, and innocent Madison. Protecting a killer,"

"Stop it now, Hero." My mother tries, as she grabs a hold of my arm, urging me to stop making a scene that is grabbing few of the people's attention now.
