“I’m sleepy.”

She said, staring at the ground. He patted the side of his shoulder to which she smiled. She leaned her head against his shoulder, slowly relaxing her eyes.

“What a night,” he said.

“I agree.”

He rested his head over hers and said, “I feel as if I have experienced more things in one night compared to my entire life.”

“But the night isn’t over yet.”

He nodded at her comment. Suddenly it hit him. He sat upright as he thought back through the events of the night. Flashbacks ran in sepia in front of his eyes.

He said, “How did I not see this before?”

She could feel the sudden change in him. Their posture wasn’t comfortable anymore.

“What?” she asked him, still resting her head on his shoulder.

“You are an angel, aren’t you?”

Listening to his question, she sat up straight and turned to him as she asked, “Are you hitting on me?”

He shook his head, “No. but I see it now!”

He started narrating his findings.

“You were nowhere in my vicinity. And then when I prayed to god for an adventure, suddenly you popped out of nowhere! A young girl with blue hair. And you must be total opposite of me because only then I would do the things I otherwise would never do. Plus, who has blue hair? That’s very rare. You aren’t scared of spirits or serial killers. And I clearly remember that you said you’ll protect me. That’s a lot of subliminal messages you were giving me to let me know who you actually are.”

“And your conclusion is that I‘m an angel that god sent as an answer to your prayers?” she asked him immediately after he stopped talking.

“Yeah!” he said with exploding enthusiasm.

She looked at him with a blank face for about three seconds. Then she spoke as she stood up,

“Well I guess there is no point in me staying here anymore then.”

With wide eyes he watched her run her fingers through her hair. He said,

“So, are you an angel?”

She turned around and nodded. “Yes,” she said.

“Really?”

“No.”

He stood up feeling confused.

“As flattered as I am with your assumption, unfortunately I’m a mortal; not an angel.”

He looked down feeling disappointed. But then she saw him smile to himself.

“What?” she asked. He looked up and said, “Nothing.”

He stood there smiling at her and she returned his smile feeling little strange.

“Come on. Let’s see further. Maybe we have more adventures to seek for the night,” he said as he pointed towards his left.

“Okay. Let’s go,” she nodded and added, “But not that way. The ghost of the girl might still be there.”

He agreed as he nodded, and they walked in the opposite direction.

She walked a few steps ahead of him, humming to herself. He watched her from behind, observing her from a distance like a stalker. He noticed as her short smooth blue hair slightly danced as her head moved. Without any warning she turned around to look at him. Very swiftly he changed his direction of vision and started looking up at the sky.

“Smooth,” she mocked his painful attempt. With furrowed eyebrows, he shrugged his shoulders,” what?”

She rolled her eyes and sighed. Then she asked him, “I am bored. Do you want to continue with our game?”

He nodded with a smile. And then his smile faded.

Damn it. She was right. I do find her cute. He thought.

“Okay. Question number 13. Tell me, do you have any regrets in life?” she asked him suddenly. Turning around, she looked at him, wanting to see his face. Expecting a flushed face on him from being caught earlier, she was disappointed to see him look down. She could feel the melancholy mood he was in. he seemed to think a lot. But he spoke.

“I regret breaking up with my ex-girlfriend.”

“You loved her a lot?” she asked him. He nodded in response.

“Why did you break up then?”

“She always complained that I was too much involved with my work. She wanted more attention than I already gave her. Everything was too much and it was consuming too much of my energy. I…” he trailed off.

After a moment of silence, she asked him.

“Were you? Too involved with work?”

He turned to her and said,” Maybe. I was on my own. Other than personal expenses, I had student loans to pay. I couldn’t go back to my parents…”

“I understand.” She placed her hand on his back and tapped to console him as she nodded understandingly. Sensing his mood taking a bad turn, she immediately started speaking.

“I have just one regret in my life.”
