"Jes," Someone shook me. "Jes, wake up."
"Five more minutes, Da." I groaned turning over.
My dad gasped and hit me hard with a pillow.
"What the hell?" I protested turning around and sitting up.
The person waking me up was not my dad, but Wylan. Who I had called Da.
"Shit! I'm sorry Wylan!"
"You better be," He threw some clothes in my lap. "Get dressed, Ronan wants us to leave quickly."
Ronan.
Suddenly I was aware that my mattress was too comfortable. More comfy than mine at the Van Eck mansion. A weird fan hung from the ceiling spinning around by itself with a weird glass ball hanging from it.
I flopped back onto the bed groaning.
"Get dressed," Wylan repeated. "I don't want to see angry Ronan."
I was more worried about angry Kaz, though I doubt he's in a good mood at the moment.
I got up and put the clothes on. The shirt, however was too tight and didn't fit.
"We'll have to ask Ronan for another shirt," Wylan observed trying to look away from my naked torso with a great pink blush.
"Is something wrong?" I smirked walking closer to him.
"N-nope, nothing,"
I got so close he had no choice but to look at my chest. "Nothing at all,"
He croaked. "Maybe a little something."
I kissed his forehead, "I'll take care of it."
He kissed me in the middle of the chest. "I'll meet you down stairs."
I walked through the hall and down the stairs. Everyone else was down stairs hanging out. Adam didn't have a shirt on and Ronan was staring at his chest greedily.
My heart throbbed.
Wylan thought I didn't notice, but I did. The way he would stop holding my hand to suddenly scratch his nose. Or how he would call me his 'adviser' when introducing me to other merchants.
But these guys, these guys. They just didn't care. They held hands, stared at each other, looked ready to make out, in front of anyone at anytime.
"Jesper," Kaz said, "You going to put a shirt on?"
"Oh," I looked down at my bare torso. "Sorry, I need a bigger shirt." I explained to the two boys.
The shaved head boy looked around. "Bigger shirt," He mumbled. "Bigger shirt, bigger-" He looked down at his loose fitting black tank top. With a shrug he took it off and threw it at me.
I threw the tighter shirt back to Adam who put it on against Ronan wishes.
"Kerah," A small girl called.
Ronan turned annoyed toward the girl, "Opal-"
My breath caught as I looked at his back. It was covered in a intricate black tattoo that seemed to house so many different items I could look at it over and over again and never see it all.
It was beautiful.
I flicked myself in the nose. You have a boyfriend.
Sometimes I looked at Wylan's wrist and imagined a Dregs tattoo on it, but I knew that was just a fantasy.
"You gonna put the shirt on?" Nina asked.
"Oh, uh, yeah," I threw the shirt on as Wylan walked down the stairs.
"Great," Adam said. "Everyone's here, let's head out."
Ronan threw a black leather jacket onto his bare chest. He walked out and the rest of us followed. In front of the house were two things they called cars. One was slick and black and the other was a piece of junk and made of multiple colors.
"We'll split up," Adam instructed. "Ronan, you take three in the BMW and I'll take two in my car."
"The shitbox," Ronan added.
"I'll take Jesper and Wylan,"
Ronan glared at him. "I want the Gays," He hissed.
"Better luck next time," Adam smirked.
"Wow, Parrish, I'm rubbing off on you."
Again I missed that, freely bantering with Wylan while we hung out with the Dregs. Making Wylan blush and knowing he liked it deep down.
Adam opened one of the doors and Wylan and I filed in the tricolored car. Ronan, Kaz, Inej, and Nina got into the nicer car.
Adam pecked Ronan on the cheek and got in the front seat.
"I take it this is your first time in one of these?" Adam asked.
"I don't even know what one 'of these' is," I answered.
Adam smiled at us from the mirror dangling from the ceiling. "Gansey will be happy to tell you all about what you've missed. We're going to see him and one of our other friends." The car started going backward and we got onto a big street.
We drove for awhile in silence until Adam finally asked. "So, how long have you two been dating?"
Wylan flinched at the question at first, then he realized that Adam was curious and not judging. "About four months. How about you and Ronan?"
Adam thought for a second, "Eight months, I'm pretty sure."
"Wow," I marveled. "Impressive."
"How old are you two?" Adam asked.
"Sixteen," Wylan replied.
"Seventeen," I answered. "What about you?"
"Eighteen, Ronan too,"
"Do you live with Ronan?" Wylan asked.
"No, the Barns is too far away from school."
"We do," I bragged. Proud to have the dream couple beat.
"What's that like?"
I looked at Wylan and he blushed. "Pretty perfect."
